Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
Well,
I bit the bullet and cut my old Tach wires. Drilled the holes and flush mounted my new fishfinder. Once that was in I decided that the black plastic dash needed to come of and get the holes filled and painted. I'm going to try and fill the old screw holes with epoxy. |

We need Pics, Shicks

Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
All those old dashes are junk, most of the time. If you can't get starboard, you can use 1/4 plex glass, colored if you can get it or paint the under side color of choice.
Or leave clear and add some pretty lights under for night effects. |
Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
Here's some pics, I didn't get any real good befor pics of the dash.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/8up/P1010099.jpg I cut out a piece of alluminum to set inside the original black dash. I am going to paint the insert white and leave the original dash black, it will give it kind of an eyebrow/border look. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/8up/P1010100.jpg |

Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
I got around to mounting my dash and drilling some holes to mount my gauges this weekend. I'm going to install a small Ritchie sport dash mount compass in the hole over the port side fuel gauge. I'm still waiting on my switch panel and volt meter to come in. The volt meter is going next to the trim gauge on the new dash.

Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
Looks real nice!!
I don't have a compass, but I have thought about it one time? *::) Any how, I would think installing one in the dash like that would it be off buy all the metal and eletronics in the dash?? I also have heard of a remote compass, were the compass is in the dash and there is a sencor in the bow that sends a signal to the dash?? I have heard that you can have then adjusted?? Just thinking out loud. |
Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
Thats a good thought though MJ and I would mount it elsewhere

Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)

Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
well compass use magnets, and any metal that is near it will tghrow it off a little.
This includes speakers, stereo or VHF radio speakers. You have a window su[port right above it. Will it be alot ?? You can have a boat yard or follow the instructions to adjust and you will be fine. of corse you need a none working compass to set yours. It all depends ow accurate you want it to be? |
Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
Looks awesome man!!!
Yeah I once put a pair of needlenose pliers on the dash and ran in circles all day till I ran outta fuel 20 miles offshore. :D |
Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
Shicks,
Great looking dash, I still havea ways to go on mine, but with all that open dash space, why arnt you mounting the guages in the dash ?? Were the holes in the console already there ?? Mike. |
Re: Started Phase II (Wiring & Dash)
Yeah Mike those holes were there already. I really didn't feel like getting back into the whole fiberglass repair mode all over again. I'm pretty stoked to get this done so I can enjoy the boat this upcoming season. I missed alot last year. I told my boys we were going to get their Va. junior angler award this year, shouldn't be too difficult, 6 species any size from a list of fish (most everything is on the list).
