Re: omc control

Normally there is a warm-up lever above the ignition key (or to the left of that) either you lift up (while in neutral only) or have to squeeze and lift up. Other manufacturers have a button to push where the shifter pivots to disengage the forward and reverse to use as a warm-up lever while others you simply advance the throttle forward and the rpm's increase. On those to engage the forward and reverse squeeze the handle and push or pull for forward or reverse.

Many OMC controls go into fast idle by pulling the handle outward and then forward to rev the engine in neutral.

Single lever, dual action control to operate both throttle and shift. Suitable for any type of boat with outboard, inboard or I/O. Can be installed horizontally or vertically, on the port or starboard side of the boat. Pull out handle disengages shift for warm up.

I have this one and it has a seprate handle for warm up

should be a button in the center that you push and then pull the handle out.

Can you post a picture of your control box? That would certainly help. ;)

If your controls look like this, I have circled the high idle lever. You should be able to raise this lever to rev the motor while in neutral.

I think he's talking about the omc binacle, top-mount control.

Mike, I have one like yours for my 175 johnson. No obvious warm up lever or button. Grab the handle down at the pivot point and pull out. It moves out about 1/4 inch or so to disengage the shift cable. I just figured mine out not to long ago. Your supposed to be able to pull from the top of the handle, but on my old control it takes a little effort.

Mike, check out the pics. You can see how it pulls out for warmup. I don't know if they made modern throttles that didn't have the warm up feature.

For an expensive camera, it sure doesn't take close up worth a da%m!
