My old John Allmand had a system like yours. I got boarded by the Coast Guard for a routine courtesy inspection. Fortunately, I had a plastic bag (that we never used) lining the inside bowl of the toilet. Since anyone taking a dump into the plastic bag complied with the law about not discharging over the side they had to let me go... but they gave me a stern warning that they were being nice and that I really needed a holding tank. Soon after that I installed a Porta potty. I figured the $69 cost was a lot less than the $500 fine I was quoted. Aside from that, welcome to the site. Good to see you aboard. PS, I live near NYC. On any given day the East River discharges tens of thousands of gallons of RAW sewage into the ocean... but that's ok... but the little 2 quarts of sewage you might dump in will make the entire world polluted. Pretty amazing.... |

[QUOTE=bgreene;210291]Besides the winterizing and trailer hub re packing, I've just got a few ideas:
1. Convert front port seat from fixed facing forward to swivel. In process....with new helm swivel and port seats. 2. Enhance snaps on side curtains to avoid risk of flapping / tearing when trailering. DONE 3. caulk bottom of hull rub rail -because I believe it's a possible source of water intrusion when waves are banging up against the hull. 4. re install cuddy door lock, and move hinge/door hook in to catch just a little easier. DONE 5. Remove all rod holders - caulk, re install. DONE 6. Remove gunnel sections, re spray at auto body shop. DONE 7. Purchase new connector cables for electronics DONE 8. Winterize engine...... did this a few months ago. DONE 9. Trailer new bearings, packed. DONE 10. Dual battery system............. LIKELY |

Well the boat is wet as of yesterday. The list is mostly complete a few additions and a few things we decided to postpone for a bit. New nuts and bolts to the floor hatch. Cleaned and coated teak. Cleaned and waxed. Replaced the tach. Had a problem shifting into and out of gear, so we replaced the linkage to the outdrive. Needed to pull the outdrive to do the repair so we replaced the boot, gimbal bearing etc. Decided to look at the stiff stearing. replaced the helm with a new anti-feedback steering system. Replaced the factory ignition with a solid state ignition. Attempted to secure helm seat base... aborted for now. See our plea for advice in the repair section. Decided not to re-paint the bottom. Considering a permanent coating for the bottom. Thinking next year. |
Sounds like you're knocking out your punch list there Diver. Good job!
