Re: phester's ride.
Phester I agree, get rid of the 35hp and get a 15hp for kicker and the tin boat. 8)
I don't know if you remember but I got my enclosure on here from Franco. $500 (or $550, can't remember) and I installed myself. It was on his '83 I/O which is a little different than the V-21 but I made it work. Had to buy a snap wrench/tool to put new snaps on the side windows, but all front snaps were able to be lined up fine. Also, on the rear curtain on both corners there is a strap sewn in with a hook on the end. I took small bungees and fastened it down to the hole in the rod box and this keeps the back curtains from blowing around like mad. I could install snaps on the livewell and fishbox to hold the back curtains in place but I'd just rather not drill any holes ya know? ;) |
Re: phester's ride.
As far as the kicker's fuel hookup, I am planning to use the same fuel line connection as the outboard. The drawback is that if the problem is fuel contamination then the kicker will not save the day.

I guess the 1st consideration on what gas is whether or not the two motors use the same gas...could be one straight: one mixed...VRO would be straight gas comin' from the tank for instance; if kicker needs mixed, then ya gotta carry extra...assumin' the gas matches, and you have room, carry 6-gal tank for kicker AND have capability to hook to main tank...that way you've covered yourself from both directions ;) ;D ... |
Re: phester's ride.

Re: phester's ride.
Thanks for the pics Tin of a sweet rig, nice job on the teak Phes. And yes for me the kicker motor came as #2, it is only a 9.9 so I can use the V in fresh water lakes here in NJ. But it pushes the V cuddy to 10 mph. Should get me home if nothing else. I hooked up a duall outlet single inlet new fuel filter to handle it. I also have a five gallon plastic tank that I take if fishing off shore to have a seperate fuel source if needed, it fits on the floor in the cuddy until needed, but I seldom bring it for my mostly close to shore fishing
