I think that for all regios the fishing is better after Sept 1.

What do you think of the more simple format as far as the board judging the most notable catch.

Oh jeepers, the pressure is on....will Blue be able to make everybody happy? More to come, but I gots to eat lunch first fellas! This is just too hard on an empty stomach!

Key is it will be a rough draft and we can change it if necessary.

I'm stoked thought cause it looks like there's enough interest to make this thing work! Now we gotta have a good set of standards to make it as fair as possible.

Today is my daughter's 9th b-day and will be meeting the wife and kids at Olive Garden at 11:30am. Endless soup salad and breadsticks 8) Oh man, that will help me concentrate!! ;D

Re: 1st Annual WellcraftV20.com Fall Fishing Tourn

Snaggers, I'm really, really close on this rough draft. But I'm having a hard time about whether to make this length or weight. Some have expressed concern about not owning a scale.

The problem with using length is that the state record for your state might not include the length - therefore we wouldn't have a benchmark for % comparison, whereas all state records mention weight.

The more I look at this I'm thinking we'll have to go with weight. Anyone without a scale will need to either have to buy/borrow one or keep the fish and take it somewhere to be weighed. Draft to follow shortly.

Also, I'm going out of town until Sunday so give all of your opinions on my draft between now and then and I'll sort through things when I get back.

Thanks guys for you interest!
Blue

Re: 1st Annual WellcraftV20.com Fall Fishing Tourn

2006 www.WellcraftV20.com Online Fishing Tournament Rough Draft
What: First annual all-species, all states, online rod & reel fishing tournament open to all WellcraftV20 board members. Rod and Reel or hand lines only. No gigs, jugs, trot lines, nets, seins, spears, etc.

When: To be held from 6am EST Sept. 1st 2006 - 12pm midnight EST Setptember 30th 2006.

Where: In your home state, or any state you might be visiting. Must be within the USA or Ontario (for Mac ;)). Salt or fresh water. Ponds, lakes, rivers, creeks, bays, marshes and oceans all included. From surf, boat, canoe, waders, but V20 highly recommended for maximum catching ability. **Note: Fishing from aircraft will NOT be permitted at this time. ;D

Entry Fee: Entry Fee is $20.00 and must be paid to Blue Runner by August 31st 2006. Details on how to pay will be posted once everyone agrees on this draft. Upon payment, each tournament participant will be emailed, faxed, or snail-mailed their official entry form and assigned an official entry #. This entry # is to be pictured along with your catch. For more see "How to Post" below, under the "Official Weigh-in Rules and Regulations" section.

Prize Money: The winner of the tournament will be awarded 1/2 of total entry fees collected. A small feminin gift may also be awarded (likely in pink ;)). Brother MacoJoe, one of the boards pioneers and founding members will be given the other 1/2 as a gift from us for having the worst luck on earth right now (with no help from me).

Official Weigh-In Rules and Regulations

When: Official weigh-in to be held on Monday October 1st 2006 shortly after 7pm EST. All postings must be complete by the evening of Monday October 1st at 7pm EST.

Where: In the fishing section on this board. At the beginning of the tournament a new post will be started in the fishing section called "2006 Tournament Standings".

How: You can post your fish in under the "2006 Tournament Standings" topic any time during the tournament up until Monday October 1st at 7pm at which time the tournament officially ends. Winner to be announced shortly thereafter.

How to Post: The following must be included in your fish picture to be counted:
  • * A picture of your fish on the scale. Picture should show the entire fish (if poss) and the scale weight of the fish.
    * To add credence to your fish's weight, include a picture next to a tape measure and specify length (to 1/8th inches rounded up.
    * Your entry # - written on paper (or something) next to the fish.
    * You standing next to or holding the fish.
    * If you cannot get all of this in one picture, you may post more than 1 picture.
    * No digital camera? Either borrow one from a friend or take your pictures with a regular camera, scan and post. Help will be provided for anyone having trouble posting but you can't wait until 1 hour befor the end!
    * You do not have to keep the fish to enter. You may release the fish, but not before capturing the above information on your camera!

Determination of Winner: Winner will be determined on how his fish's weight compares to the state record fish for the state in which the fish is caught.

Example: Mac Attack catches a 4.75lb walleye His fish would be compared against the Ontario record walleye 22.25 lb 4.75/22.25=21.34%

Rap catches a 12.25lb striped bass NC record striped bass 54.125lb 12.25/54.125=22.6%

Ok - let the amendments begin!! For the above to change significantly, the majority needs to agree. So, state your case and if the majority agrees with you we will amend the rules. Also, please remind me of whatever I may have left out.

Peace out Snaggers! I'll be back on Sunday or Monday.

Thanks,
Blue

I like it! But a couple of questions. Want us to weigh them on the boat or take it to a weigh station? How about us catch and relwase guys? I plan on winning with lots of snook, kings and maybe a tarpon or two. We should make it an annual event and give the proceeds to some worthy cause.

Franco, just weigh on the boat. Most importantly weigh and try to get measurement if possible. Guys without scale will need to take it somewhere.

ps
MJ honary membership is on RAP!

Don't forget to stuff a few egg sinkers in its mouth!!

RAP, won't alot of those summertime stripers pretty much die if you release them anyway? That's what I've always heard. Have you ever had a release float back up in the heat of the summer?

I WAS CHECKING OUT THE STATE RECORDS FOR MARYLAND AND REALIZED, I AM SCREWED. :-/I HAVEN'T EVER CAUGHT A FISH THAT SIZE OR EVEN NEAR THAT SIZE. FLOUNDER, STRIPER, TUNA, SEA TROUT, ETC. BUT IT IS FOR A GOOD CAUSE, SO I AM GOING TO GIVE IT HELL ;D

Re: 1st Annual WellcraftV20.com Fall Fishing Tourn

My goal is to get 50% on something. I doubt it will win even if I can get it, but I consider my $20 to be spent 1/2 on entertainment and the other for MJ.

Plus, if you've never caught one near that big you might be due to catch one.

I will post how to pay soon. I want to make sure the rules are 100% before anyone commits. It'd be bad to change the rules after someone has entered...

P.S. Congrats on your new "senior member" status!
