Isnt it warm in march ?? here in the peoples republic ist startng to reach 60's by marches end,

spareparts 11-09-2010 10:00 PM

One reason we arn't having this during warmer months is I'm too busy fixing peoples boats when its nice to enjoy boating, second, the hotel rates skyrocket around here when it gets warmer, third, we won't be able to use the marina when it gets warmer, fourth, you can't get the good oysters(from Bluffton) when it gets warmer. We have nice days in March, and we have cold windy days. Its a crap shoot. I'll find something to do with the boats regardless of the weather.

Any one bringing a bigger boat, the offshore Tuna bite gets going good during March, plenty of Dolphin out there to. Best place is about 70 miles out of the harbor, second best place is about 50. Better have good weather to try it.

willy 11-10-2010 08:19 AM

If I get my 2250 down there i will be hitting the inshore fishery whatever that is, having some cocktails, seeing the sites, having some cocktails, fishing, having some cocktails, hanging with a bunch of Snaggers, nitey nights with the CEO, having some cocktails, fishing, eating oysters for longer nitey nights with the CEO, seeing the sites by water, hanging with Snaggers, having cocktails.
Well you get the agenda.

garagenc 11-10-2010 08:35 AM

I understand now why in March, I didn't take all that (logistics) in consideration.

Yea this bunch of raggety waterpeople don't need to hold a workin man up. Gotta get it (work) when it's there.

I'm still in I was just wondering. We know how a cheap bunch we are. :hi:

I still need to fix my hyd cyl's on the outdrive. They are leaking bad now.

Spare/Therm can my cyl be disassembled/rebuilt without removing the entire cyl from the transome? Volvo Penta duoprop 290 outdrive.

Pipe_Dream 11-11-2010 01:14 PM

I'm a little late signing up, but I've been preoccupied the past couple months and haven't visited here as much as usual. I'm pretty sure that weekend is free, so count me in!

bradford 11-14-2010 05:09 PM

Sounds like a good time. I'll see about getting some time off, and maybe rustle up some of the Georgia syndicate.

It sounds crazy, but how long do ya'll think it would take to arrive by water?

If any of ya'll from the Coastal Empire or Lowcountry are interested we could put together a V20 flotilla/convoy.

Bradford, it could be epic . . .

We went up last October. From HHI it's around 90 miles, and took us a little over 4 hours.

Seacurity 11-15-2010 05:48 PM

I would love to make the trip down from NY and join you guys. Sounds like a blast! I guess it would be a good idea to first I have to land a boat and complete my resto and all my upgrades I have planned. :nut:

falling too far down the list, we need to go ahead and get a roll call going, any one need any more information about lodging?

rphaag 01-17-2011 10:06 PM

well, I'm new to the community and my v-20 cc doesnt have a motor yet but i'll be there one way or the other...

RWilson2526 01-18-2011 05:51 AM

I'm 95% in...btw I'll be going solo. If anyone wants to go between here and there but not bring their boat I'll be glad to pick you up along the way. (or if anyone north of here wants to drive as far as NJ and meet up)

bradford 01-18-2011 11:58 AM

Count me in 95 % as well. Just to be sure, it's the weekend of the 19th right? Also, any of ya'll from the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry wanna convoy up there on the intracoastal? That's the way I want to go.

If not I might take the RV.

I think that red 65' Mustang Fastback sitting next to the RV would be more of an eye turner going up the highway.

spareparts 01-18-2011 07:03 PM

week of the 19th, btw, Clark, that there is one sweet rv!

RidgeRunner 01-20-2011 08:36 AM

Anyone from FL gonna show? I mean I didn't buy AAA+ for nothin'. Need to see what the schedule is for the little one, and mamma. Could ba a Road trip...

Bruce 01-20-2011 09:15 PM

Looks like i'm about 75% going to make this. i'd love to meet some of y'all and have always wanted to play around in the waters of charleston. I assume theres plenty of you who know them well? I hate going places I don't know without a solid guide. I guess thats from growing up in the outer banks where the bars change yearly.

spareparts 01-20-2011 10:44 PM

the Charleston area is a breeze to navigate compared to NC, I grew up spending my summers around Sneeds Ferry NC, up there the channel was three feet, outside the channel was 2 and a half. Down here theres plenty of water and plenty of places to go. I'm waiting on planning an agenda based on what kind of weather we get that weekend. Get a chart or play around on google earth, get familiar with the waters and land marks. I'm going to try to get soem charts for eveyone who comes fown, with some personal notes written on them

willy 01-21-2011 08:40 AM

I am trying to figure how to swing this, I do not trust my trailer for a long haul like that so hauling my HS Vector down there is probably not going to work.

Hey Willy... I'm thinking that we go with RW, let him drive while we sit in the back like Hoi-polloi, watch the vcr and drink his beer... :head:

willy 01-21-2011 03:54 PM

I am liking that idea, poor RW, imagine him driving while too Vagabonds like us drinking all the way there

macojoe 01-21-2011 07:11 PM

I want to go but I will need to wait and see whats going on at work??
I wonder if I can get CB to do it? I will drive!!

That is a semi workable plan fellas....Got your PM Willy I will give you a call tomorrow. Only problem is my truck has no back seat so we will be pretty cozy the whole way down....dont mind if you drink but I might have to rub one of ya'lls leg at some point.

spareparts 01-21-2011 09:44 PM

some one is going to have to video that trip:you:

garagenc 01-22-2011 05:06 PM

As groundings go, it was a good 'un. But yes, we went aground on an outgoing tide.

Ok now I am really interested. The little one (8) has spring break the week before the 19th. The wife says get more info. So I would like some info and or input. Where is everyone gonna stay? I don't want to be the lone man out.

spareparts 01-25-2011 08:34 AM

heres some listings for hotels in Mt Pleasant, they are near the Remeleys Point ramp, I haven't talked to any of them, I don't know how freindly they are for parking boats in the lot. You may want to ask them. If ya'll get together, you may be able to get a group rate. I know soem of ya'll will be asking for the seinor discount:you:

http://local.yahoo.com/results?stx=h...Pleasant%2C+SC

the Shem Creek Inn looks pretty cool, I've never been in there, but its on the water near all the tourist eating places on Shem Creek , and no, you will not be able to tie your boat up there.

heres a listing of boat ramps
http://www.ccprc.com/index.aspx?nid=64
ya'll mostly be using remlys Point and Shem Creek if you're staying in Mt. P

Any hotels in downtown Charleston are going to be really high and boat parking will be limited. Hotels in N Charleston are a hit and miss, some are really nice, some you might get hit by some ones missed shot. I will ahve soem parking for trailers available in Mt. Pleasant for people who want to leave their boats in the water

SC boating regulations
http://www.dnr.sc.gov/regs/boating.html
SC fishing regulations

online maps

If any one has any questions, feel free to ask, email or call me (843) 532-9148, I'll do a drive by on any hotles ya'll are intersted in.

PS, check out any maps you can find on line, familurize yourself with the local land marks, if theres anything ya'll are interested in seeing, let me know. There is a ton of stuff to do down here

Bruce 01-25-2011 11:28 AM

Still trying to figure out what we are doing..

Looks like dad and I will be running the boat down from Little River and mom and my wife will be driving down.. Guess it all depends on weather. if its "colder" i'll just trailer the boat down

RidgeRunner 01-25-2011 11:48 AM

Thanks for the info Spare. I guess you are staying in your own bed. I was checking out rental houses online. Not too many on the ICW. Prices started at about $1200/wk. I would still like to open some dialog on where all the snaggers are gonna hole-up. How bout you RW? Ferm? Reel? I know it is still a little off time-wise, let the official role-call begin.

I have a good friend that lives in Jacksonville that is planning on driving his RV up and we will be sleeping there is ther plan for right now... Should something come up with him last minute I will be looking for someplace close to the rest of you guys I guess. I would agree that it would be best to get everyone in as close an area as possible to facilitate the fun and games.
