Hey Steplift, my old V is also a '78. Last week we were down at Harkers Island for a few days and every where we went some one was saying man what a cool boat, what is it? what model is it? Kind of makes all the sweat and $$$ more worth it.
Also fished 2 full days, some running, mostly trolling...filled up and only held 24 gallons.:clap:

What ya catch at HI? I was down at EI too but was fishing in the Big Rock in Morehead City. I'm heading back tomorrow and then back for 2 weeks in July for some more fishing. I also have a 78 V20 but needs to be finished been to busy fixing everyone elses boats and working on my 24 deck boat.

I am incredibly fond of mine. It's been there for some of my happiest times, and I hope to have it and use it 'til the day I cross the bar.

Good to hear from Skools again....mainly trolled and picked up a few Spanish and blues and one bonito. Fishing was cut short at end of week by a stout southwest wind, more than the admiral cared to deal with, and yep Sun. morning slick as glass.

love mine,

wish i would have bought a dual console or a cuddy instead of the center console though.

center console was the right choice at the time but my fishing habits changed and id love to have more room towards the transom

Well, there's a reason several of us own more than one V. (Although the reason is probably insanity). But there's nothing that says you can't get a cuddy or a dualie.

I have yelled it many times as I clear the rocks of Manasquan Inlet at first light...I Love My Boat!

I think they are one of the most beautiful boat designs ever made.
They are classic like a 65-68 Mustang
The way they grin at you..

I've had it since '99 and have done a lot of work on it.
I am very sad because she is in my driveway with a new transom and I am torn between wanting to slap her together half-assed and go fishing or spend a summer doing a complete restore.

Already paid for a slip.Yesterday I saw the post about a V in Toms River and I thought "man I could buy that, slap my motor on it and go fishing".

I am sick...in the head.
I need help.

Go for it. I bet you could get it for $1000, might even run. Not too far from you.

If i only had somewhere to put the darn thing i would buy one and totally rebuild it into exactly what i want.

but that will have to wait until i have a garage/barn big enough to do it

Mine is a '73 and I've had it for 35 years. Been around the block with it and always enjoyed the trip. Take care of it and it will take care of you.
