Yes just make sure you rough it up and wipe it off with acetone so it can bond on both sides of the hole IF POSSIBLE ..I patched a hole in a 5gal plastic gas can years ago and it still holds. Its amazing stuff...Frank

ThanX. I did just that and water tested it before fillin' it with gas and going out today. So far so good.

If it was me I wouldn't do it. I would guess a pinhole is usually caused ny corrosion. The pin hole is just the first place it corroded thru all the way!! Its gonna just delay it, and you may end up with a massive leak suddenly when you least expect it. If your gonna make an error, mekw it being too safe!

Yeah, I must admit, it makes me more than a little nervous just thinking about it cutting loose while out...or even while it's parked in my driveway. Tho' just one was leaking, I'm gonna replace'm both. ThanX again guys.

And if you are doing that repair and are comfortable about what Franco said I would use JB Weld and not Marine Tex.

??? Hmmm....I always tho't the two were the same stuff. I have the one repaired tank out already. Guess I could remove the MT and try the JB....cheap bastid I am and all. :P

Don't think they are the same at all, JB Weld works real well for metallic repairs and is impervious to oils solvents fuels etc.

JB works on at least some plastic. Friend modified a Glock pistol - added a beaver tail using JB with some fibre mixed in (from parachute cord). Very tough - worked great.

ThanX for all the advise. I took off the marine tex..left long nuff it would have about dissolved anyway. I made the repair with JB weld, So far so good...hard as a rock.
( it's on a bench outside with a few gallons gas in it )
