Ok, was it measure once and cut twice or measure twice and cut once. Feels like I'm hanging wall paper again and I hate wall paper. *>:(

Thank god for Lisa, or I would be looking for a new windshield. Almost punched out the windshield. Just not enough hands to get it in straight. Well this is the best I can do.

You can fill with Formula 27 then sand smooth, then recover, Or I would cover with Starboard? Up to you.
If you need small Starboard for things like that try your boat yard, I got a piece for my dash 1/4" for $10 out of there scrap pile.

Wanted to cover over with starboard or a piece of stained wood. But this is what I decided to do for now.
$7.00 at the Home Depot store for the covering, compared to 40 or 50 bucks for starboard.
I'll let the next owner worry about it. *;D

Exterior shelving mat I guess you call it. Airslot turned me on to it. Got it at Home Depot for just a few bucks.
You can still see some of the old holes, but for now it will have to do. Used 3m spray so I know it will stick. It comes with a sticky back, but I beefed it up some.
I'm just glad Lisa was there, short on patience when it comes to wall paper. ;D

Next owner, for when the day ever comes that I sell my baby. ;)
Waiting for warmer weather to repaint the bow and reinstall the hatch slides.
Still have like 10 feet of this black sticky mat left over, if anybody needs it, I'll ship it out to ya. ;)

Tryed to make it an all day thing, but its done. That means I gotta start the wash, do the dishes and god knows what else for Lisa. Maybe even do lubercated perverted things to her. I'm in Hell now. :-X

The only problem with starboard is that I like to lay things up there and have them stay put. Nothing stays put on starboard ;) I used sheld liner from the kitchen center at walmart...but I filled my extra holes first ;D

Airslot, that 3m spray glue is great stuff, just makes it harder to getter done. Less movement with the spray glue. Plan on using two of the covered holes for a mounted fan and a cd player I hope in the summer. Will make the wifey happy. ;D

Looks good. I had that stuff on my CC and luckly when I removed it the glass was in good shape. I decided not to put anything back on. My question to you is. If it only cost 7.00 won't it cost that much to mail it to someone?LOL

Hammer, lookin good man - keep those pics rolling *;)
Seeing that windsheild support reminds me - I've got some work to do. Gotta replace those pups. Last owner had 2 on each side - cheap kind. Well one broke and I'm just waiting on one of my first, no, "second mates" to put his weight on it and break my whole windsheild off!!

Went out and had some new cables made today. Shocked by the price of copper because of the war and all. They wanted 51 bucks for the cables, used the city of Lewes discount *;D and paid only 25 bucks. The old cables were on the boat when I got her. Looked like they were from some old Chevy pick up. *;D ;D ;D

Replaced my rectifier today. Didnt do anything differnt.
Had my Mecr. manual out as well. Doesnt tell you what to look for if you have to many volts. Maybe nothing is wrong at all. I just never noticed my volt guage go so high before. My this is supose to do this ? I have no ideas here.
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f153/msbhammer/DSC02409.jpg
My tac and volt guage was the engine is at idle. Figured it should be at 12 volts, but its a bit to high maybe ??
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f153/msbhammer/DSC02413.jpg
Replaced my old battery cables. Not a big deal, but with my screwed up neck and pinched nerve, it was a pain.

Motor runs fine, but no tilt still. *:-/
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f153/msbhammer/DSC02411.jpg
Hey AIRSLOT, notice that my solinoids are located on the port side with this homemade bracket.
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f153/msbhammer/DSC02408.jpg
One thing I did learn from reading my Merc manual is that when checking the solinoids, it states that if you hear a clicking noise from each of te solinoids, it indicates that they are working. I hear the clicking so now fearing I gotta yank the DAMM trim motor that I wasnt hoping to do. :-[
BigShrimp is sending me some good used solinoids and I'm gonna replace them and see what happens. If that fails. Off comes the engine bracket and a search on E-Bay for a trim motor and a price that I can afford. The only thing I worry about is disconnecting the steering arm again. When I played with the steering last season, I broke the big nut to the steering tube. *:-X

03-19-2007, 11:59 PM
clicking selenoids only indicate the selenoid is getting a voltage input from the switch, it still may not be making contact over the primary poles, get a test light and check it before you start pulling the trim mototr off

your voltage better be above 12 or it won't charge you can't charge a 12 volt battery with 12 volt. it takes at least 12.5 to 13 to charge so you are fine.

I do feel guilty, but not about having a spare motor, sorry HAMMER.
Hey, did you get those higher voltage readings after you put on the new cables?
If so its probably because the electricity can actually flow through the wires instead of getting used up by those old wires.
Airslot
03-20-2007, 01:10 AM
Man, I hope I'm wrong, but I think you have too many volts. If you have over 14 at idle, whats it gonna be when you spin her up to 4g's?
As for the solenoids, that the darndest thing I've seen today. Never seen them mounted there, but I don't claim to have seen them all. Find the wiring harness on the T&T pump. Is it 2 or 3 wires. If its 3, make sure that its grounded well, the third wire will be ground. You gonna try and jump it or not ;D
Good luck Hammer, with the motor, the neck, and Lisa...tell her not to be so hard on an old man ;D

Volts stayed the same with the old cables. She goes above 16 volts when floored. :-/
Might have to send her out and see if there is a problem.
That will bite the wallet big time. Dont want an electrical melt down. :-/

Looking for tilt trim motors on E-Bay. Whats the deal with motors that take "OILDYNE PUMP". I do have a place to put fluid in. Is that it ???
Airslot
03-20-2007, 09:18 AM
There were two makes of pumps, prestolite was the other. Do you have a multi-meter? Do you have that manual yet? How about a test light? Once you have those three things it won't be that hard to trace all these problems out. No since taking it to the wrench yet, unless he needs help with a parking ticket or sumpin ;D

have you put a voltmeter on teh battery to check what your voltmeter on the dash is reading, I see brand new gauges every day that aren't close to being accurate, Also seen guages that you could depend on start reading wrong for no reason

STINK, you just missed her. Off to Rehab. Not for the wrist, but for sex, she's always wanting it. Think she's trying to kill me and take the boat for herself. LOL. ;D
Going outside with hammer and wire to jump the trim motor. The hammer is for something to through if I loose my patience. >:(
Gonna see if I can borrow a volt meter and light from the boat yard.
msbhammer
03-20-2007, 02:18 PM
Ok, I jumped the solinoids as you guys said, also hit the trim motor with a hammer and now she's working fine.
:-/ ;D
Put on a volt meter, she is at 13 volts when at idle and at 15 at full power. She's A-OK. I think as someone posted, my "new" volt guage is slightly off.
So I guess everything is OK. I guess I should still find a used tilit trim motor. SHRIMP has a few, so I'll still grab one if he has one to offer.
