no auto zone and Advance Auto sells it, will if you strip it clean it will be a smoother finish job but you have to use self etch primer for bare aluminum actually you should anyway.

hey skools i tried the tal-strip today.
the only good thing about it is it didnt add any paint.
i applied it for an hour the first time and about 45 minutes the second time.
the paint is still there in all its glory but it seems alot cleaner now.gotta go. time to grind some more.

Yeah, that Tal Strip stuff didn't work for me either. I don't know why??? It worked perfectly for Skools, I saw the pictures with my own eyes, but it simply didn't work for me :-/

It took some of it off, but I ended up using a ton of acetone to get the remainder off. That said, it's better than scraping and sanding.

just paint on the tal-strip with cheap brush thick and wait 10 to 15 min then use a razer blade and it just peels the paint to bare metal.

ok stinky poopy, i started painting it today.
the primer websight says just use a light dusting but the guy at freeport marine said two coats so i fugured, if a little is good then too much is fantastic.
when that set a bit i shot on a coat of enamel to seal it up.
tomorrow i will shoot it with an underwater primer and finally a coat of antifouling 3 million dollar spraypaint.
then i will spend 42 thousand dollars on zincs and cross my fingers.
barring an act of god i should be in the water by friday.

With all the new environmental laws you can't buy that good paint remover that they made 10 years or so ago. I had some stuff that would make the can it was in swell and then shrink the can as the temperature would change. That stuff would have the paint falling off after about 15 min. this stuff now days I think is almost safe enough to drink.

The modern urethane and epoxy paints are much more resistant to paint removers, too.

CTT, you know, your sense of humor is crude to say the least, but do you really have to include blasphemy in your humor?

I think you'll find that I'm a pretty easy going guy as far as being a pastor is concerned. There are certain threads in the forum that I know to stay away from because I know the content is such that I ought not to look or read. I count those areas as off limit to myself. I don't say anything to the guys about those areas. They do what they do and that's their business, not mine. But I don't expect to open a thread in the general areas of the forum that have to do with subjects concerning our boats and read the kind of joke that I found in this thread.

So, I'm simply asking you, as a personal favor to me and to any other Christian men on this forum, that you please refrain from making blasphemous jokes concerning our Lord.

I know this isn't a Christian forum and I don't expect everybody here to abide by the 10 commandments or anything like that, I'm just appealing to you as one guy to another that you hold back these kinds of comments. I would greatly appreciate it.

With that said, did you get this thing painted yet?

I know MJ said discussion is over on this and it is.

I just want to offer a public apology to Charlie. Please allow me to explain so that you guys don't think I'm one of those nutty Christians you so often hear about today.

I misunderstood Charlie's comment. I took his comment to be mocking the fact that Jesus Christ was pierced through His side while He was being crucified. Hence His side was hurt... I wrongly assumed this was common knowledge.

Well, after some clarification from Charlie, I think we can chalk this one up to a simple case of misunderstanding.

Therefore, I want to publicly apologize to Charlie and to the rest of you for causing any problems on the forum.

Charlie, I really am sorry for wrongly accusing you of blasphemy. Please forgive me.

Now, let's get back to boating... ;)
