Man you wore that deck out in nothing flat 8) 8)

I noticed that deck didn't have individual wood blocks fiberglassed to the underside.

Also how are you going to replace it?

Might I ask why you chose to cut it out rather than seperate the cap and hull? I ask because mine needs a new floor and transom and I thought it would be easier to just seperate the two rather than section it out.

to much work to remove the cap my V has a solid new transom, and by the way it had the blocks under the floor i just finished taking them off more pics tomorrow, i'm going to remove the extra tank inthe boat it has a 60 gal and an added 25 gal, i'm taking out the 25 and going to add foam to the hull in all the voids to add floation.

Woulda SWORE that floor-deck would be a lil' beefier than what's layin' on the ground :) ...nothin' between that and stringer?...

same thoughts Reel the floor was 1/2 inch reg plywood scrap blocks but i'm replacing with same wood i used in the floor hatch for my 21. i'm using 3/4 13 ply marine wood ;D she'll be strong as hell when this floor is completed and i want to add a few stringers to solid up some areas.

If you have that much repair work it would be much easier to take the boat apart. That what I did.

When ya put new floor back in, do ya put a lip under the outter edge to catch?...

Stillrunning
06-25-2007, 05:44 PM
What is the deal with WellCraft and these little 6x6 pieces of wood they use. The only thing I could think of is they have a slight gap between them and the resin runs between them. If one gets water in it the others have a little protection from the resin between them. By changing to 3/4 wood won't that make it a little tougher to complete the flooring.

since i'm working on the 230 Sea Ox, so the V is on a temp hold, but almost done with the 230C, well the 1/2 to 3/4 will be fine i'm filling the gap around the edge and will make a channel on the sides to run the water off the deck. i may curve the floor to run the water to the sides too.

I love it. I see you keep everything neat and in order as your doing a project just like I do. I can tear up the garage just replacing the spark plugs. Me in a buddy spent all this time checking and lining up the place to install out rigger holders. We finally made the cut and while drinking a beer started looking for the holder that we had just had in our hands. After about an hour of looking and a few more beers I went into the house to take a leak and there they sat right beside the toilet.

From a 225 to a 140 thats a big swing in HP. I have a 150 Johnson which pushes my v 20cc around very good and tops out around 45mph. Is the 140 a 4 or 6cyl?

bradford
07-24-2007, 06:57 PM
I wish i had a choice between the 140 and 225! *I'd run the 140 and experiment with different props, it should do fine.

Heck, if you're gonna sell it, give the buyer the option!

spareparts
07-25-2007, 12:02 AM
if that 140 is the big looper 4 cyl, then it will probably push that boat pretty good. the only problem I had with teh loopers is idle quality, ended up taking that plastic i9dle speed screw all the way out on my old 120 looper, the 140 should have adjustable idle mixture scews so it won't be such an issue

Skools Out

Skool, when you redid the transom, did yu replace it from the inside or outside. *???

Looked at the earlier pics of you removing the floor.
Ok, you have a top skin of flooring, then wood, then another bottom layer of glass. I noticed that you laid it back into the V after yanking all the rotted wood in.
So my question is...do you glass in the bottom layer to the stringers ?...how do you secure it ?? or after you wet in the new wood, the top deck will be the only thing securing it ??

I test drove a V-20 center console with a 94 140 on it(large gearcase, finger port motor I believe). It had plenty of get up and go I thought, felt like a good match. You can always tweak that 140 a little if needs be to ;D.

Thanks Ferm i wondered if anyone had been on one with a 140 but the CC is lighter than the cuddy

I know a 140 is the way I am going on my V-20 CUDDY(when I finally can get to it). It currently has an 83 1.6L SEA-DRIVE on it(115 powerhead rated) and it will get on plane without issue, but top end is a bit lacking. If you consider though my sea-drive is around 100HP propshaft, a 140HP propshaft rated engine would do nicely.

Ballons are thousands of little white balls you mix in with the resin. I guess they give it strenght ???

My 140 4stroke works great on my cuddy. With light fuel and load I get 40 mph, 37 mph loaded up w/ gear, gas, people. But it turns 6000 rpm, might not get the same w/ a 2 poker.

Skools_Dual
08-08-2007, 11:25 PM
micro Balloons are brown usually and are little air pockets that allow you to sand resin like bondo, it actually makes the resin weaker lol but makes it very easy to sand, just makes water proof bondo lol.

Hey Skools,

When you filled in the bigger holes with wood, resin, and glass, did you put anything on the backside (like tape) in order to keep the resin from pouring through the other side through the voids?

Also, did you use any sort of filler or wood before glassin over the holes for the snaps?

Great work as always maestro ;)

Skools_Dual
08-09-2007, 02:31 AM
taped the back side of the holes with masking and filled up with resin then glassed over larger holes and the small ones just grind out and then glass and resin over the hole and the fill with resin and micro balloons

No kidding, as soon as the ring hit it all became OURS. I USED to have some money in the bank, once the wedding was over the nagging began until she got a new car and so on and so on. I HAD to sell DAKOTA, not because I wanted to but because I needed the money to keep paying the bills. We lived together for a year before we even considered getting married, but afterwards she sure did change.
