sorry BGA i missed it i slept in till 11 am then got to work on the 21 first thing an issue the old rub rail screws were 10 X 1" SS oval heads so i hunted around and went to ACE Hardware and bought a couple boxes of 10 X 2" screws for $13.67 a box, then layed a nice bead of 5200 and filled the gap between the cap and hull.got the rub rail out of the yard and started the stretching of the installation. the rub rail i layed out in the yard to get hott 2 days ago and left there. the insert put in the freezer so it would shrink. well we installed the rub rail and 120 screws later done then got the insert out and just pushed it in with no stretching so that way it won't shrink later on the boat a trick my Parker guy told me ;D Here's the pics of the rub rail installed see below isn't she a beauty. man such a difference.

Nice!

Another fine job there Skools.

I think the blue insert might look good depending on what color you paint the boat or whether or not yot you put bottom paint and the color you choose for it.

Skools, I'm very sorry to hear this. I did appreciate his contributions to the list.

It would be great if people could control their emotions and not be so sensitive when they discover others don't agree with their opinions. :-/ Pride can be a terrible thing.

well guys no pics but i started the motor today itwas crazy i hooked up the fuel lines, disconnected the VRO and put in some 40:1 premix and primed the bulb till tight then just thought since the motor has sat for 2 yrs i'll turn it over a bit without hitting the motor primer button and so i turned the key and the motor turned half turn and cranked scared me it started so fasti had the throttle and the shifter cables set dead on the money from the install, wow i was in shockall was perfect. she ran 30 to 45 mins with no hot spots or missing, that motor sounded so good made me wet lol. I let the motor sit about 2 hours in the hot sun and then turned the water back on hit key it fired right back up like a light switch. WOW i'm a happy boat Poppa *;D

Skools, that's great buddy!!! Very cool and not surprising that everything was perfect from the install. You da' man...

Hey, how long is it safe to run an O/B hooked up to the hose? You got me all excited about running my engine.

Skools Out
05-30-2007, 11:47 PM
well no different when idling in the water if the hose is hooked up just run it with out the hood so you can feel all cylinders, head bolts, spark plug base's, t-stat housings, and heads on all cylinders not a bad idea to do so anyway on a start up on a sitting motor. that way you feel to be sure you have no hot spotting on the cylinders or any plug fouling issues, but rev it up once and a while with it in neutral. i kept my hands all over this motors heads and plug and sides of the cylinders for hot spots or a warmer cylinder, all stayed same temp and ran perfect.

Skools Out
05-30-2007, 11:52 PM
well just finished todays project i want to take the boat to the coast June 9th for it's first splash, going to the beach for a week to see the Big Rock and hope to ride all week on this puppy, i hooked all the fuel lines and fills up to night finally found the correct size vent hose this tank has 1/2 vent i was like wow hugh, well has battery tray and NEW battery installed and all gauges work and passed skools test and the bilge pump and float switch passed the skools test, all i found was a clearance issue on the tank hatch cover has been fixed with the router and has been epoxyed and sealed up. just needs floor painted and the jump seats installed wow i can't wait.

Bygracealone
05-31-2007, 12:03 AM
Skools,

When you say "hot spots" are these spots something you can actually feel with your hands? If so, are you saying that the motor should never got too hot to touch?

I'm just trying to get this straight so that I know how to proceed.

Hey, I'm just as excited as you are to see how your boat performs on the water.

Wish I knew enough to put my boat through Skool's school tests ;D

Skools Out
05-31-2007, 12:53 AM
hot spots are you don't want any spots on your motor hotter than others, like if one cylinder seems to be getting a whole lot hotter than the rest of the motor shut it down fast cause you are about to be loosing a cylinder, then you check to ensure that the carb is getting fuel for that cylinder and that the jets are stopped up. my 225 never got to the point that i couldn't rest my hand on any location for an extended time. ran cool the whole time as they should on a hose.

Monkey Butler
05-31-2007, 11:45 PM
skools,

about the temps. I just got an '86 Yamaha V6 Special (220HP ?) and one side runs hotter than the other. One side is warm and I can keep my hand on it while the other is too hot to hold for more than 5 seconds. I used an infrared thermometer on it and it was around 90 degrees on one side and 150-160 on the other. I was guessing the 90 was a stuck open T-stat. I haven't had a chance to dig into it yet but am I guessing wrong?

THEFERMANATOR
05-31-2007, 11:59 PM
The 90 sounds to cold and the 150-160 sounds to hot. I know my SUZUKI uses a 118 t-stat.

Skools Out
06-01-2007, 12:55 AM
hey Talley is that the temps on water hose? if so it will run much cooler on a hose, due to water is cold out of the tap but on a hose it should be around 85 to 95 on temps that 150's will kill your motor in short time, change the t-stats before running again.

Skools, as usual...BEAUTIFUL WORK!!... when you taped off the curves around the drains etc, didja cut 'em w/X-acto or somethin'??...

I can see why you chose that boat for redo ... nice hull ... and if manufacturers did 1/2 the detail as you, boat sales would SURGE 8) ...counter-sinkin' the access was fo' SHIZZLE!!...

That's gonna be an AWESOME Sea-Trial!! 8) 8) 8) ...

Skools Out

i rolled the floor with a firm foam roller,

Reel that's an old painters trick, Lining tape for making flames and other graphics on autos. It's a vinyl tape that comes in different widths like 1/16" to 1" avail in every size between in 16th's, i used a roll of 7/16 for this app. you just run it under your finger and on corners you just twist your finger to the desired shape and once it's on you tape with blue painters tape half over the vinyl. I use this tape first on all painting projects for fine straight lines.

here's a sample on this site but avail at local auto paint supply shops.

Well got home ready to work on her and the floor was still soft so i had to do all i could without stepping on the gray.

so i installed the new brass floor drains

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46/Skools_Out/Monoco%2021/MVC-004S-7.jpg

installed the pedestal back in (it's bolted in to a 3/8 thick steel plate i installed under the floor and threaded the holes in the steel to be able to replace the pedestal easy and solid.)

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46/Skools_Out/Monoco%2021/MVC-003S-8.jpg

i installed the front floor hatch and insert box

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46/Skools_Out/Monoco%2021/MVC-005S-7.jpg

and finally installed all the decals

Well Murphy's Law strikes

i put 7 gallon of mixed fuel in the tank and guess what the new tank LEAKS oh yeah only found out after it was strapped in and foamed in the hull. So i now have removed alot of the foam and drained the tank will remove tomorrow and find and fix all and any leaks i'm pissed at the tank builder. good side i mounted battery tray and battery plus the doors inside the whole boat. plus installd the speed-o sending unit.

I'm going to ask $9500 for it. *what do you guys think? Do you think it will sell ???

I told the neighbor i was bringing it so he said he would have the fuel flow reader and radar gun plus GPS to get the numbers on the old girl, he ask which prop i had and it currently has a Stelleto 14.5 X 19 he said i will need a 15 X 21 for my hull he is the best prop guy i've ever seen, he can look at a hull and the motors HP and tell you the exact prop you need. He said with the 19 pitch it should run 60 mph but with a 21 should run 65

I am always in the market just have no cash :'(

The thing here is not that it isn't a good price (cause it is) Its just finding the right guy that knows what he is looking at and can appreciate what has gone into it to get it to were it is!!

Have a pic album showing the work in different stages on hand when they come look.
And of coarse you can answer anything they come up with!!

The right guy will show!!

Skools, I think Parishht meant the fuel line being almost on top or touching the battery terminal. I suppose if your fuel line were to leak, it could be dangerous...
