The thread in the for sale section made me think of this, do you have a favorite hull/boat. What is it? Mine would have to be the V20, the 31 Bertram and then some of the Carolina hulls. All three of these have very gracefull and seaworthy lines.

As far as production boats go, I do get wood over those Regulators. I looked at a used 21' at a local marina. I'm not sure I liked the hieght from the deck to the top of the gunwhale. I'm not sure if it would even come to my knees.

EDIT: I was looking around the gallery and decided that this really is about as good as any hull could ever look to me.

dont get me wrong... i love the v20 hull but they are just not big enough. if they came in a 24 or 25 i could love one forever. i will enjoy the crap out of my v20 until i can afford a 24-26 sportfisherman and then, bye bye wellcraft.

Wellcraft V20! Bow Flare is superperb, ride is excellent, gunnel height could be a little deeper. For what I do (Fishin) with mine its the Hull for me. Bill Mc ;D

I do have to admit one thing that looks a little odd sometimes is how round the bow is. It would look better if it came to more of a point.

M.J.,
I haven't seen nore heard of the boat in quite awhile either. ??? ???

I'm satisfied w/ the V/20. I occasionally get the itch for a bigger boat but then I remind myself that I would need to put fuel in it. If I had a bigger boat I couldn't get into some of the spots I like to fish. My problem now is that sometimes I find myself wishing for a center console as opposed to the cuddy that I have. Yall no how it is, can't be satisfied w/ what ya got.

Airslot,

I agree with with every last thing you said. As my wife says, "NS....................Never Satisfied" she's right, (don't tell her I said that)

V20 is up there. The only other ones I can think of is the Formula F233 which later was born again as the Albemarle 24. As for the general layout, I love center consoles with a small cuddy in the bow. I prefer to run and fish in an open boat but the cuddy is just so useful for storage. Mako used to have one. Dusky and a few others currently do.

My other favorite boat, the Albemarle 24 is sitting in my backyard under shrinkwrap for the winter. It's a great boat but maybe not as versatile as the V-20, which is parked in the front yard locked and cocked...

I am suprised no one has mentioned Shamrock. I love the idea of an inboard diesel 20 foot center console.

I love all Carolina Hulls, I use to like CONTENDER BOATS but found out that they build their boats like Dixie use too. They make the hull in a split mold and make it in 2 halves then glass the 2 halves together. They have had problems with the hulls opening up in the center and splitting open front to rear and sinking instanly.

The is a Hells Bay CC at Pirates Cove marina here in Panama city, it is much bigger than any on there website, it has to be like a 26-28...it is a really really nice looking boat. I went to look and there is nothing that big in their website

I wish they had a better pic of that rear set up!!

Why do they show the boat full bow out the water?? Looks like it can't plan for crap!! Not a good pic in IMO, rather see it flying across the water flat or in a chop.

Good Point. looking close at the bow up pics, I think they are taking them from the stern of a big boat going semi-fast. Guess they thought the bow up surfing thing wa cool.. ???

The one boat I have seen that I would really want is the Shamrock 26 ft cuddy, I think it was 26, might have been a 28. Has a full keel that runs to rear with a drive shaft straight off the engine which is mid mounted. They also have that engine as a diesel option. Prop is completely protected and talking to a fellow that has the center console version with the small cuddy in the front he has had several different boats and has never ridden in any boat that handled all sea conditions as well as it and rode as smooth as that center engine arrangement unless he was in a much bigger boat. So he went into debt and bought it a couple of years ago. I didn't like the fish box arrangement but thought it was the all around best smaller boat lay out I have ever seen.

Thanks -

I got into my V20 CC right ~ $4.5K for B/M/T - with a new '01 Johny OP 135 HP - and she's never been bottom painted - Yeah Mama!)
... and I played with her here in the Ches Bay all this season - with out a worry in the world!
From a cost-benefit standpoint she realy is a great boat!

Sure - Berts and Seacrafts are fantastic... but they cost!
I'm in the process of restoring two Bert 20 Bahia Mars now, and when I'm done - yeah I'll keep one as a trophy boat - and go show off in ego alley (City Dock Annapolis) but when it comes to a day-to-day go fish and F-around boat - I'll use the Wellcraft!
With the 4-cyl looper 135 I can afford to run it all day!
Whether that is fishing 20 miles down the Bay or taking the kids tubing in the river - and when it is all done - back on the trailer - a quicky bubble bath - and back to bed!

... and it don't get much better than that....

C-Bill
