Bygrace, the new 150 I bought came attached to a factory metal crate-type deal. I fastened it to that, then I put that on top of a wooden pallet and used metal bands to hold the metal pallet to the wooden pallet. Then I put a big cardboard boax around the motor and metal-banded that on. Then used stretch wrap around the whole thing. Make sure there are no extraneous/old shipping labels on any of the cardboard or boxes. Put a shipping label on all sides and stickers that say "DO NOT STACK" and "FRAGILE" all over it.

That's about it.

Then I got thwe tracking # and called the feright co. derict, they said its in LI. NY and will not be in RI till Fri!

then the Broker said

Because you contacted a national consumer protection agency and they are going to include your case in a national broadcast in October of this year that based on consumer fraud.....or they could just send the motor and not have to worry about it - their choice.

When they ask what agency, tell them they'll find out soon enough.

Also, you are filing a better business beauro complaint as we speak (you really really should do that anyway)

Said he called LI and they said that they don't have it, and there dock is almost empty.

They think that it was put on a wrong truck??

Same thing has happened, but the good news is
that when you least expect it and you think your freight is
lost in space,
it will show up.

My suggestion is to keep on them, call them every day.
We used to have a logistics person that did nothing but
this, tracking down freight. :P

MJ if it comes down to them telling you they outright can't find it I would advise you to get ahold of a buddy or friend you have in the local police dept. and report a theft, or at least ask him to make inquiries to the head of the shipping company by phone advising them that allegations of theft and fraud have been lodged and that they are requesting copies of all records, and have the same done where it was shipped from. Also if you have the serial #s that would help. The shipping company bosses do not like to hear from Police Dept's that they are being investigated, if it can be found they will make sure somebody that works for them pursues it.

They can make inquiries for you, and depending on state to state you may be able to report it from where it was shipped or where the victim is located or both. Whoever shipped it should start. I know I have done inquiries for people I know and have even contacted the PD where the shipper is at to make inquiries for me and have gotten some results that way. If you have a local PD buddy he should be able to start that for you, this is assuming that all else fails. Rather hard to lose an outboard engine on a pallet.

Local P.D. should be notified. The cost of the motor would be classified as a Felony. The serial number should be given to police so they can enter it in to NCIC.

That 92 on the end of the serial number does not indicate the year. Yamaha's are not designated that way.

MJ, *I'm not an attorney but I believe if a business is involved in interstate commerce which a shipping company would be, you can sue them where ever they conduct business.

They were adamant that they would not refund my $12. They also said they would only send 6 of the 12 mags that I paid for. I wan't happy and when BBB got involved they changed their tune. Ended up trying to send the 6 back issues plus continuing the subscription for 6 mos but didn't work so finally they mailed me $12.

MJ, definetly do the BBB complaint, also call your states attorney's division of consumer affairs office, and if you have a TV station (action 5 or whatever) that will put it on the local news. I still think your motor will show up! :P Have faith! But stay on them, ask them how they would feel if situation was reversed... and what they would expect you to do to resolve it....

We need to give MJ some time to sort this out, after that we need to start calling the company, we need both ends of the transaction to report it to the police and enter the item NCIC, and we need the better buisness bureau involved and we need to start posting info on the different web sites. If several of us start calling them and several of us start on the web can raise a lot of grief and cost that company a lot of money and buisness. And the complaint with the better buisness bureau needs to be done in their home office state and where the transactions started and terminated.

MJ, on the chance some one DID lift your motor and presently enjoying same, is there any sense in you filing a police report at sending or recieving end? Willy suggested this some time ago...this episode has to be frustratin' for you...I know it's hard for me to watch...since he's in law encorcement, it sure seems a recommendation from a credible source...are you thinkin' at this point action like that may do more harm than good?...is there anything any of us can do?...

He seems like a nice guy and wants to help.

I had BR call him this morning to give a exact description of the pallet, so it will be easy to identafie.

I am willing to give them some time to look for it cause there is no insurance and once they give me the $45 they will owe me the case will be closed!!

So for $45 I will leave open for now.

Anyway, I described the packaging - making sure he knows that it has mailing labels on all 4 sides and the top too! So, don't try that, "well maybe the label fell off crap".

I also let him know that we aren't going to let this go for $45. He said if indeed it is lost he would try to recoup every penny that was lost. How? I don't know? Maybe he's just saying that to keep us happy for now?

I cant believe this motor didnt turn up yet. Cant they simply question the driver or drivers. Did the motor come off the load so they can get to another package and then forget to reload it. Sounds like the blame should be placed on the driver and have him pay for the motor. Or fire his A$$.

Besides, those drivers are probably spread all over the country by now... :P...there should be a manifest that lists where each item got off that truck...

Give them some time, whatever you think is appropriate and don't except their compensation. Take them to small claims court in the town it was shipped from and sue for the whole amount plus expenses.
