So as most of you know I have an 84' I/O with a 470 mercruiser original motor. bimini and enclosure (that I was going to replace this winter) and a single axle trailer (that I was going to replace with a Dual axle). boat is in good shape, little oil leak (oil pan gasket or crankshaft seal).

well a guy I work with has an 87' I/O 470 mercruiser (rebuilt and 10 hours since rebuild) with a brand new top and enclosure and a dual axle trailer. he wants $4500.

I think I can get $4000 out of mine.

Any suggestions? ???

seen pics, going to look one night this week. he lives an hour from me.

it was rebuilt 2 years ago and has only used it 10 hours since. he has not used the boat in 2 yearssince it was rebuilt , it has been sitting in storage.

i will take some photos and post after i see it.

no i have not ridden on it.

oh yeah and it has a mooring cover mine does not.

Cy, my .02...Sometimes it's "better the devil you know." The other boat may be in as good or better shape than yours. OR NOT. Tough call for certain. How about electronics? How much would you have to spend to make it fish the way you want. I don't think the boats changed any from 84 to 87. Who rebuil the motor? Guess it doesn't really matter because your not going to be out of pocket much up front. If she does let go, well, any of them could let go tommorrow. If you think his is as clean as yours, go for it. Sounds like your getting ready to spend 4k on yours either way you look at it.

does that include labor? are you repowering yours? transom plate on an I/O? where the hell is that?

The transom plate/gimbal assembly is the inner/outer part that the I/O mounts to.

No sweat CY, maybe your first two boats will be V-20's :). Hope to not be online tommorrow as I should be in Crisfield, with my V of course.

My own 2 cents, boats sell better with enclosures. For the price your asking for your boat, and the condition it is in, it should sell quick. The other boat for that price as well seems like a good deal. Best of luck whatever you decide.

AND THEY SEND ME FLYER WITH THE SPECIAL EVERY MONTH.

THAT PRICE IS MY COST AND DOES NOT INCLUDE FREIGTH NOR THE PRICE OF THE CORE, WHICH I BELIEVE IS $150.00

well took a look at the coworkers, boat, and lets just say "It did not speak to me". good condition, some minor cosmetic issues (pinstriping). motor looks and sounds good, just not for me. I am going to stick with what I got.

So the guy wants me to put it up for sale here on the site after he gets a chance to clean her up all the way. Once he is finished cleaning I will help him post it.

Stay tuned.

Did not get any pics, sorry, it was raining like hell when I was looking at it.

ask him if he wants to sell the enclosures! then again, you prob already have. didn't you say you were getting ready to replace yours.? well, if he won't sell or you gonna get 'em for urself, could you ask where he got 'em? and how much? tx bro

RacerX, You Southern Boys dont need enclosures. Its always warm in your neck of the swamos down there. ;D

what you mean always warm? heck, just the other night when that cold front passed thrue it got down to 58 degrees! i thought i was gonna die.

seriously, its the humidity here. 50 degrees feels like 40. sometimes during the winter it might even freeze at night.
