Nice pics Tin, way to hook a brother up ;)
Phes that's some really nice work you did there. Hey on your enclosure, do you have problems with the snaps on the side windows? Really only the ones in the rear on the bottom. In the pic it looks like the last one is unsnapped and I was wondering if you have a problem keeping that one snapped? The reason I ask is because I do. Its not really a big problem at all but just bugs the crap outta me. Also, I am unable to take out the back curtain. The side windows want to flap and really come unsnapped then! I thought about some different type of fasteners at one time but have yet to do anything.
Nice boat!!

BR, the enclosure was off another "V" and the original snaps did not line up that well with his boat. He had a canvas guy add some new snaps and many of the old ones are not being used (you can see in the last pic).
He does have a bit of an issue getting the enclosure installed (tight fit), but tight is good, right? ;)
I'm sure he'll fill you in on more when he sees this thread.

Yeah it's good for boat tops ...and something else in my distant past, however I can't recall what it was just now...where'd I put that flyswatter?? ...
...and tops from other "Vs" ??? ...now where have we heard that story B4??... ;D ;D ;D ...

Speaking of teak. What do you guys normally do when staining it. Do you take all the teak off, or simply tape everything off and stain vary carefully. ??

thanks fellas for the generous comments was a nice fall evening on the boat.....just wished we were able to bloody up the deck, as Tin posted, only one fish landed by yours truly. First time out on it in about five weeks so she was a little snotty looking, overall it 's in nice cond for an '86. Blue: that corner snap is a little difficult and it's because one of those upright supports is about a 1/4 inch to long, but after its been on and all buttoned down for a couple of days, the install and takedown is easy. Love it under that thing on those cold nights. I had the Coleman heater on board but didn't fire it up. And Cap,that is a nice big ramp but it can be tricky because the current rips thru there real fast, kinda fun goin' down there on sunday late afternoon watchin' all the weekender smashing into each other. The channel itself needs to be dredged.....SOON.....you've got about a two hour window before/after dead low or you not gettin' in or out. Best part about that ramp is that it's 1.2 miles from my house. Lastly, Hammer, I know you've been lookin' for an enclosure so I gotta tell ya.......E-bay.....400.00$ worth every cent.

Thanks Phester, been keeping an eye out on E-bay for enclosures. Dont pay any mind to Racerx, he's one of those southern V's, the temps are always in the 80's. He doesnt need one. ;D ;D

rx needs a priority check....#1.....motor,#2.....windshield.....#3 enclosure. Come to think of it don't you have #'s 1 & 2 in order? here's the deal, Skools posted the link [from e=bay]last july?august? If I recall the" buy it now" was 400.00. Called the guy, assured me it was in perfect cond, I told him I was on my way [Long Island to somewhere in Brick Township ,New Jersey]about 100 miles. I did have a "mobile canvas" guy put it on.....another 200.00 and I gave him a 50.00 tip. So in round #'s 650.00, installed. Haven't seen any on E-bay since.....not that I've been lookin lately ;D RX only needs the bimini down south

FYI- it dont get cold here like it does up north. but, we do hit the 30's and 20's here. never for more than 3 or 2 days in a row. but, thats the best time to catch winter reds close in. and flounder. with 80-95 percent humidity, thats a cold night on the water, imo! enclosures and heater would be the fershizzle my nizzle!

it seems fine. i just worry since it was submerged. talked to skoolz and others and decided to get a kicker just in case, so i can get home, lol. plus i been wanting one anyway. gonna save my pennies and repower with e-tec next year, if 175 holds together. winders on thier way! i get them mounted, couple other things i been procrastinating on, and i will put some hours on her. will know soon.

I'm feelin a kicker in my near future, I've got a 14.5' tinboat w/ a 35 rude, too much motor for the boat. What I'd like to do is get rid of the 35 and get a 15 hp use it on the tinboat and a kicker on the V

Whats the fuel hook up on a kicker ??, bring along a seperate tank, or connect it from your primary tank ?
Does it really matter what side you mount it on ?

nice V phester! thanks for the pics!
thanks Kajun......TheTinMan posted the pics for me. Hammer,I've have ,what appears to be, 4 ss nuts/bolts in such a pattern that would suggest that the previous owner had a kicker on there at one time or another. It's on the port stern and I'm guessing the logic behind that is ,if your out solo, the kicker mounted opposite of the helm sorta evens out the weight. As far as fuel goes, you can of course have a separate 6 gallon tank on board or I've got a "diverter" atop my h20 separator that I can turn 90* and send gas through another line to the kicker

Phester I agree, get rid of the 35hp and get a 15hp for kicker and the tin boat. 8)
I don't know if you remember but I got my enclosure on here from Franco. $500 (or $550, can't remember) and I installed myself. It was on his '83 I/O which is a little different than the V-21 but I made it work.
Had to buy a snap wrench/tool to put new snaps on the side windows, but all front snaps were able to be lined up fine. Also, on the rear curtain on both corners there is a strap sewn in with a hook on the end. I took small bungees and fastened it down to the hole in the rod box and this keeps the back curtains from blowing around like mad. I could install snaps on the livewell and fishbox to hold the back curtains in place but I'd just rather not drill any holes ya know? ;)

As far as the kicker's fuel hookup, I am planning to use the same fuel line connection as the outboard. The drawback is that if the problem is fuel contamination then the kicker will not save the day.

Thanks Phester. ;)
so I guess a Kicker can get ya home, but would take awhile.

I guess the 1st consideration on what gas is whether or not the two motors use the same gas...could be one straight: one mixed...VRO would be straight gas comin' from the tank for instance; if kicker needs mixed, then ya gotta carry extra...assumin' the gas matches, and you have room, carry 6-gal tank for kicker AND have capability to hook to main tank...that way you've covered yourself from both directions ;) ;D ...

Thanks for the pics Tin of a sweet rig, nice job on the teak Phes. And yes for me the kicker motor came as #2, it is only a 9.9 so I can use the V in fresh water lakes here in NJ. But it pushes the V cuddy to 10 mph. Should get me home if nothing else. I hooked up a duall outlet single inlet new fuel filter to handle it. I also have a five gallon plastic tank that I take if fishing off shore to have a seperate fuel source if needed, it fits on the floor in the cuddy until needed, but I seldom bring it for my mostly close to shore fishing
