Default replaced my trim tilt motor.....

I had to replace the trim motor on my 89 yamaha 175. I was out on the lake and my relay burned up, after some testing we found the trim/tilt motor was shorting the relay.......I spent $168.00 on a new relay from yamaha, I spent $172.00 on a trim/tilt motor off ebay.........and then I had to put it all together. I asked several mechanics how to do it. they all said the same. it takes hammers and torches, and you may even need to remove the engine from boat to get to the last bolt. Well.....you dont, need any of that. What I did was put a floor jack under the foot with enough pressure to hold it, not push on it. Then take a socket and remove the six bolts(three on each side) on the engine bracket. They hold the trim assembly to the bracket, take them all out. Now if you raise the floor jack the entire trim unit moves in the engine bracket....I had to release the hydraulic fluid and pull the assembly down when the engine was all the way up. So jack the engine all the way and blow the line going to the master cylinder and fill cap. once you do that if the engine is as far up as you can get it (i used a line from the two back cleats to hold it up) you can pull down on the trim assembly and it will slowly come down, as fluid squirts out. now if you use 10mm socket, and universal joint, and a extension you can get to that back bolt!!! swap it all out, reverse instruction to put it together, bleed the line and BAM! you are done and it works like a charm.

If you can't understand these instructions or have any questions, feel free to ask. I know i saved a lot of money and time doing it this way. I thought maybe it could help someone else.
