Default Bad Gas

going back at it today.. new starter(bought 2,1 Back up), rotor, cap, wires, plugs. drained gas 100%..also new oil sending switch...questions.. I see a small amount of dirt particles in bottom of gas tank.. not good for carb. should I add gas and try and suck it out or will filter filter it out?

Default Starter

was able to get out there for a few hours.. I got the starter in after a few hours.it was a pain in arse to get to the bolts. I am not a mechanic, but geez got to be a easier way. Maybe an air rachet? got it bolted in, hooked up wires, and it turned right over.... nice. nasty looking oil shot out of cylinders. dumped some seafoam in carb, few 1/4 turns to get seafoam in it,let it sit for a few, then few more 1/4 turns.. flush out cylinders...did this several times before calling it quits for day. tomorrow.. oil sending switch, wires plugs cap...gas

how do I attack the particles in gas tank?? I still have sending unit out, waiting to install with new gasket

Easier way to install starter is pull the engine.... No really...

For particles in tank... Two options.... Yes filter will handle it as long as it's not enough to plug filter..... OR you can put a few gallons of fuel (or kerosene would be much safer) in and set up a fuel polishing rig...

Bow high or low and one side high so you have a low corner...

Set up an electric fuel pump and a filter with a suction hose and a return hose.

Pump fuel from tank, through filter, and back to tank....

Pickup from the low corner and use return to wash any particles toward that corner.

Ideally filter should be on intake side of pump to protect pump.

thank you kevin. I believe it would of been easier to pull the engine! lol I have muscles in my arms that I didn't I have that are killin me!!! as far as tank goes, ill dump some gas in and suck it up with elec pump.. it isn't too bad. I am pyched it isn't seized and it actually turns over.. the brite side.. I know the engine inside & out when I am done! lol
