well I am happy to say that all the structual glass work is done!!!!!
Its a skim and sand game now. Im gonna be rolling gell coat on the top side of this boat, 3 coats wet on wet and a 4 final coat all coats will be with waxed gelcoat. It will be gelcoated in sections, the cap will be done and completed then the the side walls of the liner will be completed and then the floor. I just dont want to paint the inside,Its a pain in the @ss and the gelcoat will be alot more durable. I also have decided im not vc performance epoxing the bottom. The gelcoat is in pretty good shape and some spots will need some attention with some matching gelcoat. I will be matching and blending my own, I wanted to learn how to do this anyway. Can I call wellcraft and get a gelcoat match from them? 1974 is a long time ago! lol!

Back in 1999 when I was redoing my '74 I called wellcraft and had a good, informative conversation w one of their techs...I would think they will be able to provide color numbers for you...if not I recall seeing "Wellcraft White" on a list of available colors...well lookie here what googled up http://www.iboats.com/Wellcraft-2008-2009-Off-White-VAL-Color-Boat-Gel-Coat-Gallon-Spectrum-Color/dm/view_id.834133?cm_mmc=Google_Main-_-Mall+Product+Listings%3AGoogle-_-+%3AMall+Product+Listings%3AGoogle-_-Spectrum+Color&kw={keyword}&gclid=CKH1xN-xnbcCFU1o7Aod6CoAJg This is obviously for later models, but might be what yer looking for...you'll have to check it out for yourself...good luck and let us know...and HEY!!...whaddabout them PICTURES??... ![]() The LINK isn't coming up...Google Wellcraft White or copy/paste the above into your address bar see what comes up...

thanks for the info reel. I dont understand why guys dont fair with gelgoat? its cheap, feathers and sands beautifully and can be thickened to your liking. at 40 dollars a gallon I ccould roll 3 coats on and still have to sand just as much if i was using a fairing compound!! gelcoat is very easy to work with it seems so far

![]() all glassed up and roughly blocked in. ![]() as you can see the floor penatration have been hotcoated then one strip of CSM around the perimeter and 3 coats of gelcoat. ![]() all holes that go thru the core ply are hotcoated and 3 coats of gelcoat are to follow. the key is to seal up all wood properly. all holes holes in the transom are treated the same. the holes on the transom are over drilled by a 1/2 inch then refilled with a fiber reinforced thickend resin then 2 layers of CSM are glassed on like patches on both sides. I then redrill my holes and its protected by a 1/4 inch ring of glass. then i put 2 coats of gelcoat on the holes. Its completely overboard but I just want to protect my core ply |
