Status - previous motor off, sold, gone along with the oil tank and wire harness.

New to me 200 HO to be rigged. Likely done by early next week, latest.

And yes.............I'll figure out again how to post pictures, to show before and after."

My installer says the new 18" prop is too big - need to drop to 17" so we'll first test, then swap if needed to hit the approx. 5,700 WOT rpm. range.

you do not have to run to top end of the rpm range. I would like to have a rebel 15.25 x 18 instead of my 19--it would be perfect IMHO. Iam happy with my 19, but the 18 would put me just right.

I even ordered up the flag sticker and put it on--looks awesome--will post picture later when on home puter.

reelapeelin----we might just have to meet in the middle--lol

I know this isn't exactly pertinent but, I got a friend with a big block e-tec on a Vicious tunnel hull. He is running a crazy large prop. 32P I think.
He is running 60 at 2800 rpm. He claims that the e-tec has so much more ballz down low it is unreal. No problem using the grunt to pull a big wheel. Your top end should jump by at least 10MPH and do it while sipping the dino juice..
60 hp jump and all that low end grunt..should put you in the club.

Lugging the ETEC is what was determined to be the cause of MOST of the early powerhead failures. This is why BRP now REQUIRES ALL new engines sold by them to be setup and test run by a certified dealer to make certain it is propped right to reach the upper end of teh RPM range. Ask Lumber about his powerhead failure and what was teh cause of it as well as many others.

Yes they have alot of bottem end grunt, but its that grunt that can hurt them.

I hear that Ferman, that is the cause of a lot of P/H failures of all brands, truth be told. You know Bajamerc/ Kevin from the deisel forums. He is the owner of the tunnel boat mentioned. He and his brother put an E-tec on a short 15" midsection and grafted a sportmaster to it. The Lake Tarpon Boys gotta E-tec fetish. LOL He can still turn the RPM, the boat is a lot lighter so he isn't really taxing the motor and lugging it per se. He just wants to be able to cruise 80 at 4000 rpm and go all day on 25 gals of fuel. Currently averaging 6 MPG as I understand it..
Plus he added I-command gauges.. Which I like better than the SmartCraft..

Yep, I know who he is. He's asked me some diesel and other questions before. The ETEC has proven to be VERY picky on prop set-up, but his light weight hull I'm sure makes a big difference.

I use 2nd generation Evinrude dealer / service called J&B Boat in Westville, NJ.
Master Tech, owner tells me I should use the 17" and run to the upper end of rpm.

So, first I'm going to try the new 18" Rebel SS prop the seller had on hand, then likely drop to the 17" if required.

I hear ya Genie - if you're happy with your set up, then why mess with it.

I'm interested to test and report on my findings.
