And doung a solid transom probally after the fall. Motor comes with all gauges, harneses, oil tank and controls for 3500.00. Its a 2004 with 390 hours on it.

For $3500(I think the $1500 was a different engine) it's a good price, but personnally I would pass. When they're running, they run great. BUT just one repair can turn one into a parts motor in a hurry. With DFI engines what would normally be a simple repair can cost as much as another engine of the same vintage would. Then figure in maintence costs along with the need for a dealer to do electrical repairs, they can get pretty pricey. I considered a DFI when I had my HYDRA-SPORTS for the fuel savings, until I figured 1 or 2 dealer repairs in. Then all of the sudden my old carbed thirsty 2 smoke sounded pretty dang good. Yep I used 20-30% more fuel than a DFI would have, but I could do any repair it needed, and parts were easy and cheap to come by.

Check it for corrosion CLOSELY! Suzuki's are KNOWN for corrosion issues. I love SUZUKI outboards, but I also know you have to watch for corrosion with them. I know Rm likes his JOHNZUKI on his V-20.

Yeah, my buddies Suzuki 140 has corroded badly. Just broke two bolts holding the water pump housing, and two holding the foot. Not to mention the corrosion all over the power head.

Look VERY closely at the lower unit ESPESCIALLY where the prop goes into the gear case. Suzuki's are NOTORIOUS for corroding in the gear case area and splitting where the propshaft support goes in.

I always knew the 2 strokes had this gear case issue...but didnt know the 4 strokes did. The only problem i heard from a guy who is the local suzuki guy said a plug in the mid section is where most of the corrosion stemed from on these 4 stroke. I have seen some frakenstien welding done on a 2 stroke lower!!!!

search my posts for DF140 for details.

I have a 2004 and I love it...but... it did have a known problem with corrosion in the exhaust channel where a steel plug is. The replacement "Engine Holder" part does not have the plug, it is solid aluminum.
That cost me $1800 incl labor.

Recently I replaced all internal engine block anodes. They were due but the block looks fine. You should buy replacements and o-rings before removing the anode covers

I replaced the Idle Air Control Valve last year, causing stalling when backing off throttle fast. The codes of flashing lights on the Multigauge pointed me right to the problem.
Boats.net has all parts and diagrams. I have a pdf of the service manual. pm me.

It is a great motor for the money. It will push your v20 to the mid 30's at wot. 3.5 mpg on 120+ mile round trips at 30 mph.
Turn the key after 6 months in a snow covered field- it starts. Love it.
