you need to do a sync & link, meaning the carb linkages and the timing linkage need to be adjusted to factory spec and position, you will probably need amanual to do this correct( i do them, but not often enough to remember, so i dig out teh manual to make sure I don't screw up)

Update! I just ran it around the bay for an hour and all was well. No bog down and it got up to 30 mph pretty easily. I replaced the bad rectifier the other day and I think this did the trick. My only guess is that it was wreaking havoc with my ignition system not to mention draining the battery. Its nice having a working tach as well. Keeping my fngers crossed that I'm good to go now. Thanks to all.
