anything in the engine compartment that contains fuel has to meet Coast Guard specs for resistance to flame for an alloted time frame(don't know how long). Its got to hold up to fire for a certain amount of time before it melts, thats the reason for metal fuel filter bowls, no plastic inline filters, and "A1" fuel hose

Default Fuel Filter

Really appreciate the help.Can I go with the sieara Fuel kit from west marine or where ellse would you sugest?The problem that I have is I am in Ireland and parts are unavailable.However I used to live in Va Beach and a friend of mine normally gets this stuff for and posts it over.So if you can tell me what exactly to buy he can pick it up and send it to me.I have a box of parts leaving the states soon so I would like to get it in that.That is really holding me up[fuel filter system that is...Regards Brian...

that sierra filter is a copy of what mercruiser uses( probably made by the same people), check with ebasicpower.com they may have a better price on one. Racor makes the bets filters, but for what you are doing, the sierra is fine

Thanks sparparts,just to let you know I am 5 hours ahead of you guys,so when ye all aplying on the forum I am more that lightly in bed!!!!hence I reply alot later,anyway thanks again.So would any other of you guys concour that the sierra would be fine for primary filter?Regards Brian.......
