pull the drive and check like Jaycee said. If all looks good then it will be the coupler.

As for a marina doing the work?? Good Luck and open the wallet!! I bet it will be over $1000 there *:o

The coupler for mine (165 mercuriser part # 76850A2 ) was $200

yeah, i know i got it right last spring, because i had the boat out about forty times since, and nothing at all was wrong with it until the last run of the season when the aforementioned incident occured. since the boat itself cost me only $1000 and performed great until the incident (motor still runs great), i wouldn't be too averse to dropping another grand to bring it back to how it was. i'd still feel like i got a bargain. thanks to everybody for their input, i'll let you know what the verdict is when it comes down.

you must be patient, i am lazy, and "fix boat" is further down the list than is "fix car" or "make money to fix boat" ;). i'm sorry to keep you on the edge of your seat. i promise to fulfill the yearning curiosity my dilemna has aroused as soon as i find out. thank you for your job-like patience in this matter.

Wow it has been 25 days since your last post on this!!

But I am not counting! ;D

Fix car?? who needs a car?? Just get it to the water it floats!!

Make money?? Why you are just going to spend it on boat repairs!! Get a good set of oars :o

come on man get your priority's right!!
