I like the Grady Seafarer ok, but I really really like the Grady Gulfstream alot better, albeit its heavier.

The main distinguishing difference is the gulfstream has a stand-up cabin that can sleep up to 4, and is only a foot longer than the seafarer.

Also, I'm with CB - I'd wan't the full transom and bracket on a Grady.

Here's a Gulfstream that is decked out to the hilt, complete with tuna tower and twin 150 yamma hammers. Price doesn't look too bad to me for a Grady considering replacement value is probably around or over $100k:

The Gulfstream is one of my favorite models. One of the things that set it apart in it's size class is that it has a 9'3" beam. Something to consider when towing. Need permits. But, extremely stable boat on the water. Beautiful. 8)

Most of their problems were prior to the 1990's models. Some minor. Some a little more so depending on the model.

Nother thing...got a buddy w/a Gulfstream w/twin 140 Johnnys, fighting chair and spreader out-riggers...1989 model I think...hull is solid...w/trailer you could pick it up for about half what the one above is...

Wellcraft 248 is a good boat, I fished in one for 5 years with a budy of mine.
Takes water ok and we had many trips off hore to 50 miles or better.
But IMO there is not any room on deck! I think I have more space to use on my V20 then that boat. Has huge cabin , to much IMO, Great if you want to do light fishing lots of curzing with the babes! ;D

MJ, lookin' thru the archives, there's a 248 Sportsman that sounds like the boat you describe, then there's a 248 OFFSHORE w/much less cabin and more deck...this deck looks HUGE... ;D...
