just pull the head see how deep the cylinder scores are if light then just hone out the scoring and put 1 new piston and rings init and go. some motors you don't have to even open up just remove the carbs and reed cage then you and take the rod cap off and use a wooden broom handle to knock out the bad piston hone and new piston kit then use Marvel Oil to install new piston and good to go just clean the hole out well with thinner so get all metal out after honing.

I hate bills as well, probably the tightest sob I know. So my advice, for what it's worth, buy a good used one to run with and take your time rebuilding the old if it's worth it that is. That way next time, god forbid this happens, you'll have one sitting in the wings ready to go. Not to mention, you could then sell one if need arised to.

Like SKOOLZ said, get the head off and see what you got first. Don't make a blind decision on it. There is still a good chance that it is just a scored cylinder wall and not a boat anchor. If you need a complete kit, these guys have always done me well(although his prices have gone up lately), there located in TAMPA.

some folks say that a rebuilt outboard aint worth squat. i have yet to see any evidence to that effect. go with what skoolz said. pull the head off. if ur not sure what ur lookin at give me a shout. if it does need a complete rebuild, round here ur lookin at about $45 a hole, if you do the work yourself. with 75# on that cylinder, my guess is ur probably in good shape. might be able to put a ring set on it and go. whatever route you take, get an alarm on that oil tank!

Do a one hole fix . . . Don't go crazy. I think you have to pull the entire motor apart to get a good look. 75psi you haven't screwed it up too bad . . . Have a shop clean up the one hole and find a new piston/ring/bearings (for that 1 hole) . . . I doubt you'll have to bore it and run an oversized piston, but that's your worst case senerio . . . and yank that oil injection off. I swear that must be the #1 cause of engine failure.

YES!!... disconnect the auto-oiler by all means, and get a $4.99 mixer bottle like this ... most local boat dealers have it

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...p;classNum=453

makes mixin' REEL easy ;) ...
