we don't have many of the black flys down here, but the ground hornets will ruin your day when you run over the nest with the mower. I've been helping a buddy prepping some food plots, he wont bush hog with the small tractor, he only uses the enclosed cab tractor just for the ground hornets and wasp(AC is nice too)

Try being allergic to them. More than 2 bites and I start swelling up. 5 or 6 and my eyes go blood shot and my lips start swelling. To top it off they're out on the river and flats when the fish are.

And don't forget locusts(giant grasshoppers). Nothing like getting pegged in the eye by a 4 inch grasshopper.

They are the worst here in the fall, seems they live in the deep woods and when the north wind starts blowing, it pushes them down to the beaches and bay. When you get out of your boat to do some wade fishing and come back, there will be a couple of hundred waiting for you.

man, you guys are really the bearers of good news, aren't you?!? suddenly, i'm reconsidering my direction of migration. anybody know how the bugs are at the north pole?? man, looks like I've got a lot to look forward to. I guess i'll be spending more time than I thought inside the condo, caulking every crack. the one thing I really don't want to deal with is bugs. I don't so much mind spiders, as they eat bugs. i'm hoping to settle smack in the middle of a bat colony so they can take care of my bug phobias.

Cool

Notice we don't have any of those things in New Jersey. "I know a guy"..........

(Actually, we have the worlds worst mosquito. They are small, but they travel in packs and love the taste of "OFF" and other mosquito repellents.. I swear it actually attracts them. Ground wasps, ticks, deer flys, chiggers and spiders?... yep, we got them too... )

Around here copperhead snakes and black widows are pretty thick too. Years ago when I bought the first v20 I had the motor off to do transom work. I hung the motor on a homemade wooden stand that i made and it was sitting on the edge of the woods. I sold the motor and me and a buddy went to move the stand. I noticed something crawling on it. There were a couple thousand baby black widow spiders crawling on it and their mom was there too! Freaks me out thinking about it.
