Modern 2 strokes can troll all day without loading up.
I also troll a lot and my 200 HO stays smooth. You can now find these used in great shape and save a lot of money. Just have to use top seller such as ARG Marine in Fla that will provide real warranty and crate ship to you or installer. |

I also have a 2stroke G1 EVINRUDE 200HO on my V20, love it for all use. I can rip the handle out of a slalom skiers hands or troll out in the ocean. I run the Rebel 3 blade SS 15.25 x 17p. It tops out around 49mph with all mt canvas and arch, radar and antennas. I average between 2.4 to 2.8mpg running the ocean. Run as far as 75 miles offshore with her for tuna. If you think 4 stroke, watch the weight, i would say weight wise, i would not go any heavier than this motor. If i was to do this again i would probably have gone with the 175 evinrude,2.6l instead of the 3.3l. With bait tank on the back deck and loaded with ice and gear, the rear is lower in the water than i would like, but i do also have a 15hp hanging on the back as well.
As for trolling, at idle i am around 1.8knts. Have 1300+hrs on it, probably around 80% of it trolling.
