Average price of gas in 1988 was .90 a gallon. A 150 merc was about $5500 or 6,111 gallons of gas
Average price of gas in 2017 was $2.49. A 150 was $11000 or 4,417 gallons of gas.

Plus , over the lifespan of the engine,1500 hours, it will save you at least 2.5 gph.
2.5 x 1500 =3,750 gallons @ $2.49 = $9,337.50.

My philosphy is the more u use it, the cheaper it gets.

Nice math Phat

Those things are almost as ugly as the G2 Evinrudes, the newer yamahas coming in third, especially the smaller ones. The newer suzuks and the older etec evinrudes are the best looking in my opinion.

I’m a big fan of the G1 etec as far as looks are concerned too. I saw a G2 in all black and I actually thought it looked good. In person I don’t find them as hideous as I do in pictures, although it may just be that I have a 98 Johnson on my boat.

I've done that math too while contemplating new zuki DF200APs for my 265 express. You are absolutely right. If I USE them for 15 years they pay for themselves in gas & oil (vs the 225 Ox66s I have now).

I'm kinda glad those G2s are so ugly...so I don't even have to consider a 2 stroke...
