I.m like Reel, I like the looks of the 70's, guess I'm kinda partial! But all are really popular. I see them everywhere. We rode to Cheasapeake Square in Va. the other day and I saw another one I haven't seen before. It was across from Nansemond High School. Is it anybody here?

I'm new here but this thread prompts the following questions:
"What contribution does Wellcraft provide this forum if any? Do they provide any sponsorship, technical assistance, company point of contact, etc.?" Do we have anyone on the inside? Is the company interested to know what owners of their product have been doing with them? Especially the earliest vintages? If the answers are in the negative, has anyone from the forum approached the company? Just a "newbie" wondering. V/R, Slow |

Noone inside that I know of. Wellcraft has been struggling, like a lot of others. They closed all the manufacturing plants in FL. I guess they are building some in Georgia. I don't see any contributions coming our way from them. Besides we are their worst nightmare, we buy their old boats and referbish and use them well beyond their useful life. LOL! They would prefer us to discard the V-20's and buy NEW.

I always liked the early 70's center consoles with the "flat" cap. Also I believe the '78 cuddy had some cool features with the new style cap, a wider splash well that looked like it would be good for twin outboards, turned down bow rails, and the unique layout of the instrument cluster.
Not to sound pissy, but I'd be surprised if anyone at Wellcraft even knew about us or cared. Corporate BS coming into play they want to sell the cheapest boat for the most money and with the economy going south I'll bet something there is having to give. I doubt they'd be interested in providing much support for a mid level boat they ceased production of nearly 20 years ago. I am glad the V20 was Ray Hunt designed and in existence before a big name manufacturer took it over and I'm really glad it wasn't Bayliner! LOL! Wellcraft at least has some other decently cool hulls such as the Nova, Airslot, (some love them, some hate them) and the Scarab which had the Miami Vice notoriety back in the 80's and also carries some respect in offshore racing circles. These were all great hulls in the own right before being mass produced by Wellcraft.
