And you think the setup from a V6 88 150 will work? I got pics of it today. I am almost positive the electric motor will need to be replaced. But a side from that I did get a decent look at it today. I also got pictures but it will take me a little while before I can post pics.

Is that motor a 20" or a 25"?

wow she is eat up. Have you hooked it up to a fresh battery to see if it works? The problem is they changed the size off the main pivot shaft. My 76 has a smaller spline and small diameter main pivot shaft than new motors in the 80's. I have a 85' transom bracket that i can put on my 76' but my 76' pivot shaft is 1/6 inch smaller creating slop in the shaft. This part is the only thing im missing to have all parts needed for my build.

That is why I am not rebuilding it. I figured $150 for the whole thing would be a good deal to who ever needed the lower unit.

kracker, are you talking about the pivot tube (side to side swivel) or the tilt tube (up and down)? If it's the the tilt tube, maybe you could have a machine shop turn some sleeves to fit over your tilt tube to make it snug in the '85 transom bracket. Heck, that might even work if it's the pivot tube. I don't know enough about how all that stuff fits together...

Are you talking about the guy in Hollywood? If so, I'm not far from there so let me know if there's anything I can do to help out.
