Single vs dual axle trailer ??

I may squeeze out only this season with the current dual axle that came with the boat.

I see a LOT of V's riding on single axle trailers.

Why ? Is a good single more than adaquate ? Does it " ride " nicely ?
Is a dual axle trailer really necessary.........as in is it worth the extra cost and related maintainance ?
