A sheet of 3/4" Starboard will fix most of what you want.
The hatch is a prize to find though. If you ain't already seen it, look through this thread. thanks man. the links you posted are extremely helpful. It gives me a lot of ideas on my boat. Starboard and I are going to be best friends
 where can you pick up starboard? prob West Marine.... And the Idea of moving the vent hole(gas) up higher is a damn good idea!!!!! On my transom one side is lower than the other??? is yours like that or has someone tampered with my boat (previous owner) i took off the brackets and it doesn't look cut,, but ya never know

The Starboard is available at River Services in Thunderbolt, probably a few other places too.
I would bet the transom was done for whatever reason for the steering cables sake. Mine was even on both sides, later we changed it to a 25" transom.
