hey Spare i went the 74 full size short bed chevy as my frame under the 54, that gave me the new front and narrower rear frame sections.

I htought about going with the 73 and up chasi, knowing there is a lot more stuff for those. The 88 and up will have too wide of a track. Check out left hand chasis, howe chasis, and speedway motors. There are a lot of cool suspension pieces for the stock front snout classes. If it will hold up on a round tracker, it'll hold up on the street. Soem of that stuff is fairly reasonable.
