The Widow,

Bought the Black widow and it was a fine bow, but did not fit me in the hand well and was a little too noisy for my tastes no matter what trickery I used to silence her, so at the blanket shoot I sold her for more than I bought her for and went shopping amongst the dozens of great bow makers attending with their wares.
after shooting several beautiful bows and it coming down to two, I took them both out for an extended shoot off.

THE WINNER

If you fellows are looking for one of the finest shooting bows in the world you should check out the Predator line by Ron Pittsley.
They sell a basic model in Cabelas, a lot less money, and they sell this bow called the classic.
It is as fast if not faster than my Widow, which is really saying something if you know bows. Unlike the Widow it has a great handle that feels fabulous in your hand and also unlike the widow it is dead silent when you shoot. Only sound you hear is the arrow thru the air.
Hits exactly where you point it.
I got a great deal on it, which I promised him i would not tell anyone, but it costs 795.00.
made with Canary wood which is gorgeous, bubinga, purple heartand hard rock maple. The pics do not do it justice. The canary wood will darken in the sun to a beautiful orangy yellow.
It is a shooter, and a keeper.

So on friday my son and I are wandering about the various hundred or so tables set up in the tents and one fellow has a glass display with dozens of old USA made pocket knives, which is one of my most favorite things.
a canoe pattern knife from Queen cutlery caught my eye and I was checking it out. Good fair price but I had other things I needed to use the limited funds for so we moved on and went shooting.
Well the next day my son stepped out of the camper and said "Dad got ya something"
He pulled the canoe pattern out of his pocket. The sneaky little sucker had gone off and some point and went back and bought her for me. Does not have much money, working part time for minimum wage and all. But used it on me.
He's a good son.

Killer report. That's a good boy right there...surprising his dad like that on limited funds.

As usual, I'll have to check out all of the wonderful pics elsehwere b/c I'm at work right now...its like reading a book, I just imagine the scenarios in my head as you've described them. I'm sure my imaginations do not do it justice though. Good job Willy and that is a fine young snagger fo sho!

Yea Blue you should like these photos and Lumber if I saw her I might have surrendered.
Tsubak checked out that site and it is nice, and I think you should go for the traditional side, it is a felling of release to shoot and to hunt with that really cannot be explained in words.
I have mentored dozens of guys going from compounds to traditional, not one has gone back. I shot one (compound) for the first time when I had my neck surgery, picked it up immediatly and it is nice to. but the bow you see on the post weighs about two-3 pounds and is a joy to shoot. as soon as I was able to I grabbed my recurves and longbows.
Give me a shout if I can help you sort out anything you are looking at.
