Randleman, It looks to me like a hack may have gotten ahold of your motor in its previous life. Your t-stats have been hollowed out and your poppet valve has been removed. I think they were chasing cooling issues before you got ahold of it.

Ok, what does the poppet valve do. I know it has to do with cooling, but does it regulate the amount of water through the heads ????

Mine doesnt do anything.

Its supposed to open up to allow more waterflow through the motor above 2500 rpm.
