I run a 150 hp with a 17" pitch prop. , 1.87:1 ratio and I turn 5500 RPM. *When we get his prop pitch and diameter we can solve this. He'll probably bun less fuel too. ;) *

Most with a 150 will hit 39 - 42 mph. I've got a 150 on mine also.

44.7 mph on gps with a 4 blade stainless. I could probably pickup 2-3 mph w/ three blade prop. 2000 Merc Saltwater running 5500 rpm.

well first, is this a new to him boat??
Has he run it before and got top RPM, 5000 to 5500 ? Or is this a new to him boat and he has never run it before?? New to him then he needs to tune it and make sure that he is getting full throttle and if all that works then re prop, whats he got for a prop now?? If this is s boat that he has had for awhile and all was good before then he has to look deeper! Need more info!! and maybe skools will see this and be able to help a little more. MORE INFO!!
