yeah you right about 80 gals. way heavy. like you said probably smaller...60 or 50 gals. in all actuality i can probably put another 40 in the console and have a 20 spare in the cabin if i need it. i'll have a lot of trial and error im sure with this project.

that would hold about 25 to 30 gallons.

Just a thought.
i probably could make that work under my console.

Ooops I forgot too - duh! You meant in the console not the cuddy. In that case its not as far forward and you should be ok.

that my fault my statement was worded oddly. that's what i meant the bigger tank in the console and the smaller backup in the cuddy.

I do get 5 mpg (statute) with my single 140 4-stroke. That gives me the range you are looking for with my 40 gal tank (not the original, it was a 60). I also get 40 mph top speed. I never run more that 25-28 in the ocean, even on calm days, it tears up too much stuff.

I could run 60 miles out, but not by myself. Even with twins you run the risk of getting stranded if you go by yourself.

If I were in your shoes, I would get a newer or new 4 stroke 140, 150, or 175, and go with a buddy.

....and get sea tow. Really doesn't matter much if you get stranded 20 miles off or 60 miles off.....you are still up the creek without a paddle so to speak.

Get sea tow membership, make sure your radio works, and go fishin! Always better to go it with another boat if possible.

One of our members had a V-20 with twin V-4's, maybe 140's. The boat crossed ebay a few times over the past 4 years. Sat real heavy in the stern. If you can find a 2.0 liter Merc 150 you can get around 3.2 mpg cruise, thats what I have and get.
