Most young people as they get older and get some life experience change their opinions quite a bit, its life, its growing up. Unless you are a flaming liberal then you never quite get rid of the rose colored glasses.
The point I am making it is life experiences that shape you, just like what happened to Jason in his comments above. Yet I am sure Jason has also witnessed himself or at least heard of amazing things cops do everyday to help others, but that one circumstance gave him an initial response to this thread that was very negative.
That is why that officer in the video was so wrong, because he affected at least three young men for the rest of their lives.
well put

That video will affect untold 1000's of people who base their opinion of police on what the see on TV, either on the news or their favorite TV drama.

Most people never have any interaction with the police day to day, it is suprising to me how many people are shocked when they interact with me and find that I am polite and kind and helpful, even when giving them a ticket. Of course the level of kindness helpfulness drops dramatically when you call me a stupid SOB or the like.

Jason, you did not offend me, I understand that many people have unpleasant experiences with cops, for whatever reason.

I am not the cop that you hate and like I said above, I don't take statements like that personally. I would be willing to bet that if you spent 10 minutes with that cop under different circumstances, you would find that he isn't that bad after all.

I hope that you will keep an open mind and not lump all cops into one heap.

LOL, funny video. That cop needs to get laid before he comes to work or find himself a new job. But then again, smart *** kids dont respect parents or the police anymore.

So this is the comment ya got to feelin' guilty about and called me, huh??...ya old coot...yer gonna have to do better than this to get my knickers in a twist...LOL...but as always, it was good to hear from ya!!...

As far as good cops/bad cops...they're just like any other group of people...some good some bad...they're not cookie-cut, they're human beings just like the rest of us...we need to take an individual's actions on the merits of the individual alone and stop blaming all for the stupidity of a few...JMHO...

I hear ya, CY. My own kids talk to me in a way I NEVER WOULD HAVE DARED TO TALK TO MY DAD. Dad used corporal punishment in a fair manner, and only when necessary and appropriate. I have not done that with my kids at all out of fear that today's world would label me a child abuser rather than a good parent.

I agree with CY. Very well said, Willy. Now post some W.E.T., would ya! In all seriousness, Willy, the things you said show you to be a very wise man indeed.
