Default Will you try this "chicken" ?

This lizard, which is now common here in the island, is being cooked and eaten around here. Locals call it Gallina de Palo, or "tree chicken", and they say it tastes and looks like chicken meat. I will try it as soon as I find some cooked one.
It grows pretty big, I have seen them around 4-5 feet long. They are not originally from here, they got introduced as small pet green lizards, but when they grow, people release them into the wild, and they reproduce. So now we have too many of them, I see them on the roads all the time.

That's an Iguana or at least it looks like one.

I have seen many, but not had the opportunity to taste one.

My grandfather said he has eaten MANY of them when he was down in the islands. Said it was VERY good, and a very white clean meat.

I'd eat it as long as I did not have to fillet it.

that is indeed an iguana.
they were also introduced in florida and seem to be doing quite well.
they have also become pretty nasty.
