Default batterys gell and wet

ok maybe some one can tell me the answer to this
i have 2 batterys on my boat with a battery switch they say you are not supposed to mix them like 1 is a gell cell and the other one is a wet cell my question is why
i had this set up for years and with no problem so what gives

talked to my NAPA guy about this , he says it does not matter. he says he knows people with a 2 battery set up in there plow trucks and never had any thing go wrong and been running that way for some time

capt bent ist reel nice picture lol 2nd what was i talking about oh yeah the baterys i feel the same way but they say you cant mixed them i dont know why maybe some one will leet us know
