Default Need OMC Help!!

I have a budy that has a broken shift cable on his 88 Evinrude, He askwed for my help changing it.

I said no problem!! Thats easy!!

Well I look like a fool now!! :-[ I tryed and tryed but can not get that control box to come apart!! :-/

Here are some pic's of the box. It use to be black but all the paint has come off!! Looks like Crap but works fine till now!

I get the 3 screws out and try to pry it apart, but there is something I am missing??

Looks good inside from what I see, all greased nice and astuff? But something is holding it.

Thanks guys!!

There are no screws here on the back?? Just threaded holes?

M.J., be careful reinstalling the control box. If its anything like my mercury control, you must make sure that the shifter arm is in neutral or it will go together, but to tight and not causing it to shift properly. Most of all, look for loose wires...as I missed the last time and friend my wires.

Thats the screw, that Skool circled for ya. Might also have a tension washer as well. Make sure the throttle control arm is down as well when putting it back together.

they are so much fun to work on aren't they lol, the handle doesn't matter on a OMC it can be installed any way you want so the handle is confy for the user.
