Default Beaufort/Cape Lookout  May 13

Out little Spanish friends are in but with out birds they are hard to find and nothing was on the surface. I put on 8 and 10 ounce weights and picked up about a dozen small blues and spanish trolling oo clark spoons along the beach in about 17 feet of water. Wind picked up big time around 2pm and a pod of fat albies tore up my spread so I came in. I know a lot of guys love catching these things but I think they are a pain in the *** as you cant eat them but they do fight hard..It was blowing a solid 25 when I hit the inlet and with quartering 5 ft seas it was a slow choppy ride and I broke off my seat and fell on my ***. I stopped for a flounder sandwich and a frosty and some guys in a big sport fishie tied up next to me with 6 guys on board. The mate told me that half of them had been throwing up and they they only got 3 decent dolphin and some snake kings and one big wahoo. Both dive shops cancelled out also because of the wind. I did not go out today and it was blowing all day and tomorrow is more wind and rain and monday is the same. Hopefully I can get out tuesday..Frank

13 to 19 inches or so, not much to them. Sometimes you can get them 3 to 5 lbs but mine usually are on the small side but they are very tasty....I always run one larger spoon down very deep as sometimes kings are under them. Frank

Hey Frank, I was down and probably within seein distance from you on the 10th. 4 guys in a baby blue center console with no top. We fished morning from 8 - 11 and evening from 5 - 7 and never left the inlet. What were you fishing in?

A white 83 v20 with a red bimini top and a big chesapeake bay retriever..Sometimes I run the shore line, or AR 315. I usually stay either to the right or left of the inlet and sometimes I troll in the turning basin..I saw some guys in a 26ft blue Mako center console with twin mercs.. frank

I saw a V-20 trolling right next to us that had a blue bimini similar to Willy's. Looked like it had a 150 yamaha 2 stroke like my boat. I waved and he obliged. I was thinking, "you know, I probably have chatted with that fellow online at some point."
