Hello all
More questions form me :). This is regarding the liner in the cuddy cabin. Mine is filthy and I can smell gas and oil down there. I am thinking of ripping it off and just painting that area after a thorough wash down Does any one have any ideas on this approach? - Things I should be aware of before taking it down - any problems with not putting a new one in - any issues with painting the inside and any input on the type of paint - any gotchas I should look out for Thanks in advance for any and all help in this regard Cheers Ashok |

What are you talking about? I don't have a headliner ,it's just fiberglass, are you talking about the rug that covers the sides?

I pulled the carpet down from the ceiling. Horrible job....glue dust....
The dried orange glue was a problem. I never got around laying on my back to sand it and have it fall in my face. So I never did paint it. Still much better than the stinky carpet

It's not a V20 your doing but that does not matter, rugs should not be in a boat, my V 20 has it on he sides but they are not in to bad shape do I left it bug I did see people remove and paint and it looks good, you can do it, wear a mask and googles and Go for it.

If you smell fuel in cuddy....that's a bit of concern associated with possible leak.
If you haven't already, check the easiest areas first: 1. Top of tank fuel sending unit for sign of leak. 2. Fill hose 3. Fuel in bilge Then of course the fuel tank fill test ( not the door lock test as in the movie Bronx Tale ) Fill fuel tank with plate over sending unit off.......so you can see if it leaks when full, under pressure. Regarding cuddy cleaning and headliner...... on my V21 I found wave over bow type heavy spray could leak a bit from the bow slider track design so I had a custom snap cover made with rubber flange over just the outside bow slider section. Looks good and solved issue.. As for cleaning the headliner, with the moisture causing mold, it's a tough cleaning job with bleach water mixture, scrub brush face mask and a LOT of ventilation..... |

I don't recall exactly now how bad it was, will check again this year. Last year the mechanics was supposed to have checked the lines. I will check all those points you mention and also see if I still smell fumes. I think a combination of build up in bilge and the carpet might also have some effect there. Yeah I am not sure if I want to deal with bleach in an enclosed area. Just remove it all if possible

thanks yes, I was referring to the carpet or rug ow whatever that's in the cuddy cabin. It's really filthy with possibly oil stains and god knows what else. I just plan to remove it, was wondering if there were any issues to it like electrical or something that i needed to be aware of. Interesting you mention the glue, i will see what I can come up with to remove. |
