Default Dorian

Just want to wish all our friends and neighbors along the east coast good luck and caution them to be safe, not sorry. This storm is a killer and can easily veer to the left and slam headlong into any state along it's projected tract. Good luck and God bless to all of you.

This one has been a strange one, probably the slowest storm i can remember. Early models had it crossing the state and getting in the gulf. Looks like now it s turned into a very slow soggy cat 2.

Like D said, good luck guys , be safe

Got things buttoned down, trawler hauled out and on the hard. I always think one of the worse things is waiting around watching it on the updates. If any of y'all are interested Chris Parker Marine Weather does an hour or so discussion every night at six. His forecasts are usually paid, subscription only, but he's doing free hurricane forecasts on Dorian until the threat is over. A very knowledgeable forecaster without all the weather channel drama, much better than Mike's weather page I feel too.

Light to moderate rain here now with the wind out of the NNE, gusty winds but nothing too bad yet, the surge isn't supposed to be at high tide so that's good.

Really sad about the Bahamas, the wifey and I have been planning our first big offshore cruise to the Abacos since May.

Y'all stay safe

When this thing was supposed to cross Florida and get in the gulf, we were really stressing out. Was hoping that ridge would move on down and push it out to sea.

We were in the eyewall for 3 hours, i cant fathom 30 hours. Our insurance company didnt believe that all our windows were compromised , they have been leaking everytime it rains since the storm. So they sent a structural engineer to verify my claim. According to his report we were 11 miles from the center of the eye, right in the edge of the eyewall. I am about 4 miles from Tyndall AFB which recorded surface wind speeds of 106. But we only got 6 inches of rain.

So just hunker down, stay safe, and check back in when u can

steady 40 mph winds gusting to about 65. Got a couple trees down, but nothing major. Supposed to peak around 2. Then I'm worried about the Sneads Ferry house tonight and into tomorrow

Worried about my parents house in Surfside SC. Seems to be right in the path. No one is there thankfully, so we'll have to wait and see how it turns out. Bad think it is scheduled to hit there right about the same time as high tide. House is at least 1/2 mile inland so not too worried about surge, moreso worried about rain/runoff flooding as the house is on a slab foundation. Hope all my favorite places - bait shops, boat ramp, restaurants, marshwalk, etc. pull thru!
