I need to move. I have been trolling west coast Craigslist for months. People out here want too much money for a v20 Most serviceable v20s north of 6 grand Pos no engine or not running are still 2000 bucks And the trailers are usually in bad shape and would costs $$ just to get them home. There is one steplift I/0 recent work done and he wants $6900 Stringers transom all original. Tempting, are all of these older V20s in need of a rebuilt transom and stringers? He wont get 6900, but he is holding firm because he has spent a lot of money on it recently. They just don't show up that often Last edited by steelynorm; 10-08-2015 at 08:12 PM. |

Transom and stringers a lot of the time depend on previous owners care or neglect, not to mention who was working at the factory that day and the state of the economy/new boat market that year. Just because one is old wouldn't scare me off at all if in good maintained condition. I have a broker's edition of power boat guide and they add 10-15% to prices for a lot of boats on the west coast.

I picked up a V this spring after looking for a long time. You are correct about the $$$ for a deceit V 20. The demand is growing for these hulls and they are no longer made. Honestly some of the V 20's I have looked at had original power and weren't in great shape. However the prices were 5k or higher. That's a lot of $$$ for a boat with original power that could pop anytime. On the other hand if a seller can get that kind of $$$ good for them.

Condition matters a lot. Got to check them real carefully for the signs of water intrusion and weakness. It does seem more expensive on west coast, but if you find one in rare excellent condition the price will reflect. Personally, I'd rather find a hull in fantastic condition with old motor at fair price, rather than hull that needs a lot of heavy work. Easier to buy another used outboard. The more boats you look at, the better educated you'll become to know a winner at fair price when you find it. |

I have picked up a 1978 for some few parts off it. It has good windshield and hull seems good? It also has an untitled trailer. I was going to offer it out to forum folks for $200.00 (half of what I paid).

http://fresno.craigslist.org/boa/5206897055.html It's not a v20, but this is a decent hull in your area.
