Default 86 v20

was cruising local craigslist today and found this 86 v. It was 10 mins from my house so you know i had to check it out. this thing is in very very nice shape, i was in shock!! . The guy wants a few hundred bucks. he has no title. and i have no idea what to do with that bracket . would you be able to to reuse that bracket with a new engine? not familiar with the outboards at all. http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/boa/3310780574.html

I just want the gauges!!!!

The seadrive bracket will make a great anchor!!! I had one that was in perfect shape and couldn't sell it to save my life!!! I ended up getting 100 dollars for it and was lucky to get that.

The boat the way it sits would make a great solid transom boat with Armstrong or stainless bracket.

Charlie, Put it to you like this. if you offered 100.00 less than he is asking you would wind up in the (couple )hundred dollar range ! its in massapequa. judging from the absesce of wear and so few coats of bottom paint i dont think she has spent much time on the water . i like the boat alot, it has the live well in the deck at the base of the transome. Kracker what kind of money are we talking about to put on a transome bracket?

All depends on the shape of the transom. When you remove the seadrive you will have a pretty good idea. I have seen the outboard brackets range from 500 to a 1000 on Craigslist.

I would not personally put a bracket on that transom without reinforcing it with transom knees or some other type of structual assistance. You will have a lot of weight on a very old transom. Get MJ's attention, he should be able to help you alittle better with cost on a bracket conversion on a v20.

went to see this thing today. it kills me to walk away but there are issues that scare me.
1. cant even deal with current owner. can only go through his friend.
2. nobody knows who or where the previous owner is and he was the last one to title the boat.
3. according to DMV the only way to title this boat is for titled owner to apply for duplicate title.
that said, this boat is in unbelieveable condition for the price. it could have been had for around $200. and parted out for 5 times that. poked around the bilge and it appeared solid. no rot to be found. deck and transom are rock solid. stringers and knee brace stringers are solid, as well. lee stainless rod holders and outrigger mounts. good helm chair and back to back that could be replaced.
this guy bought it and it has been sitting for about 6 years. it's filthy but in exceptional condition. dead bird on dash. neglected for years.
just really hurt me to walk away but i really dont need the headache.

no title is usually a deal breaker in fl, but in some states(check ny) you can have a salvage yard tow it to their yard and impound it for 6 weeks, then they will notify the last title holder on record( by hid or registration). he has 4-6 weeks to answer, if not they can get a title & transfer to you. pia and usually runs $400-$600.
