Default Bad weather so some TLC

It's been too rough to get out so spent some time on the inside of the boat. Stained and varnished some of the teak yea I know but I have it on some exterior doors that get alot wetter than this will ever get. I also took off that ugly contact paper off, filled holes and sprayed the dash with VHT wrinkle paint.Bought the paint at Advanced Auto. Thought somone might be interested cuz I saw quite a few posts on that subject.

Man you people are really making me feel like a loser as far as upkeep on the boat....awesome job there...I like the paint idea...I need to do my dash bad....I dont know if my boat ever had the contact paper becuase all it is is cracked gelcoat all over....I was going to cover it with some sort of plastic sheet but always thought the transition into the windshield and the teak strips wouldnt look so good....that paint may be the way to go.

That looks awesome. Can you explain a little more about the paint and the paint job?

Default Dash paint

The paint is VHT wrinkle paint black. My son has used it on his harley with better results, it is very durable. I like the texture, it keeps things from sliding around. I removed the wood, slid the hatch forward, and took off the windshield support. I then masked off the area to paint and sanded with 100 grit side to side as much as possible, try to get it even all over and don't tear up the tape or you'll have to redo it. Then cover everything in the front of the boat and I mean everything. Iused brown paper taped to the glass and covered the rest with old sheets. You'll get alot of overspray in that confined corner. Wiped the area with actone and let dry. The paint is suppose to go on real heavy in several coats the directions tell it all. Put it on even as possible! Go have a beer or two, it takes several hours for the texture to appear. Let dry for 24 hrs and reassemble. 1000% better than what I had. Thats it, pretty simple. I suggest opening the boat up and don't do this if its real windy, overspray. Use a respirator if you have one, at least a dust mask to keep from breathing overspray. Show us some pics if you decide to do this.
