Default Trim problems

The trim rods will not compress on my 96' 130 rude. I can tilt the motor down until it hits the rods then it stops. I can manually release the unit and it goes down fine. The problem began after replacing my trim electrical motor.

Does the system need to be bled or what?

I had a similar issue last year, but occurred out on the water. My motor (98 Johnson 130), essentially popped up as we were under way. Couldn't figure it out, but 10 minutes later it just went back down.

Have never had it happen again, and didn't find anything that stuck out, but attributed it to some sort of short in either the trim switch.

I'll keep tabs here in case anyone else has ideas on this.

I found a good deal an a used tilt and trim unit, since my rams have some pitting on them and they leak a little I am just going to replace the whole thing.
