| Remote control very stiff when moving forward

I'm having trouble with the shifter / throttle. It binds / is very stiff when shifting into forward gear. Moves freely with throttle only or into reverse. Any suggestions?

RB I have a I/O and my throttle is the same way, What I found out was it wasn't the control, my shifting cable had been bent during some work on the outdrive and when it was in gear (fwd) it would be hard to move and wouldn't stay without holding it. 1 mechanic told me that after it goes in gear then the shifting cable doesn't move but that's not right (on mine anyway), I took the shifter box loose from the cables and the handle moved great but when I hooked up the shifter cable it got hard to move. Yours might be 1 or both of the cables may need greasing or replacing.

I thought about that and I have disconnected the cable at both ends and it moves freely when not connected. The remote remains stiff. Look's like it's remote time.

I don't know if the I/O controls are the same as the outboard but usually on the outboards the center stud that everything rides on will corrode and swell causing friction on the bushings. Disassembling, brushing the corrosion and greasing with waterproof grease will usually get them operational for several more years.
